When did you start to truly like Spike over Angel? Did you like Angel first then accepted Spike after he pulled the "Bob Barker is the key" on Glory...

I'm not a Spuffy fan, but I read all of these threads (I don't know why) I actually started watching the Show in season 6, I started to REALLY sympathize for Spike before I saw any Bangel at all (I never shipped Bangel)... so I never actually liked Angel over Spike.

For me it's not about prefering one over the other. I identify a lot more with Spike and can understand him a whole lot better than Angel. Not only that but i think that Spike is a lot more interesting as a character to watch.

But the thing is that Angel and Spike, for all their similar traits, are very different individuals and i like them both equally, in their own ways. Spike is just a lot easier for me to empathise with.

Just an opinion to flame up the conversation, I don't really think any Spuffy did like Angel from the beginning. Let alone, they start loving Spike over Angel. I think you rather start watching the show as a Spike-lover or a Angel-lover.

I'd say that there are just as many people who, like myself, enjoy the character of Spike very much but not moreso than Angel, just in different ways and in different situations.

For example, i think my favourite character overall will always be Spike, however i much prefer Buffy and Angel together as a couple. The two opinions do not always have to tally.

I never really thought much of Spike until the end of the episode called (I think) "intervention" when he thinks he's talking to the robot and it's really the real one.

Well, to me Bangel and Spuffy and two entirely different things, and I would definitely be able to like both of them. Except that now I happen to think that Bangel was really boring, and I prefer Angel as a character in LA and not in Sunnydale, I think him as a character works better without Buffy. Spike however, doesn't work by himself as a character imo, he needs Buffy or Angel to do so. And evern though I don't want Spike and Buffy to live happily ever after, I do find their relationship a lot more interesting than the Bangel one. Doesn't mean I prefer Spike as a character.. Ok I do prefer him as a character, but that doesn't have anything to do with the fact that I prefer Spuffy to Bangel.. (Does this make sense? My words are playing tricks on me)

i started watching the show from the first ep, so i worked my way through Bangel, Briley and Spuffy...and i have to say that i'm a definite Spuffy girl.
it's not that i hate the other two ships, it's just that i think Spuffy is a lot more interesting that Bangel. Bangel def started to bore me a little during S3.

Yeah, it did get boring.
I gotta say, i'm none of the above.

Buffy alone is a great character, but when she is with someone, she makes Dawn season 5's whining tolerable.......

The best character development to me was Spuffy though, that relationship went to more angles for me, as Bangel seemed to be based on a more innocent stance of love and Sex...Spuffy dealt with the actual relationship stuff.

Briley....or Bile - y as i refer to it, that too dealt with a more adult theme then Bangel.....but i don't think i'll ever fall in either camp......

Ye......no.

The first few epsiodes I watched of Buffy I hated Spike. That english accent, the hair...

The only character I thought had any promise was Angel, but I thought Btvs was too immature a show, so I didn't watch. Then I started watching Angel. So, originally, Angel was my favourite character...but once I watched Season 6 of Buffy, Spike took that most favoured position.

I've never *ever* liked Angel. Not even in the slightest. Spike however has always been my favourite character. Evil or soul having, Chip having or...um...well...good, I've loved him to bits.

No, that isn't quite true. I know lots of people that where originally bangels. They mocked me for liking Spike. As soon as season 5-6 came around they converted...and Spike was the vamp they loved. Me? I have been a Spike fan through and through! Spike!

Heck, I know some people that started out as a Biley shipper. 😱 So again, not quite true, although the majority do start out as bangels or spuffies.

Yes..I liked the Bangel relationship..but IMO it was rather boring. And with Spuffy we really saw Spike's character, his personality, and with Spike we had really learned WHO Buffy was.
