@SiegePerilous02 I agree completely that Angelus had a love of the arts (don't forget drawing!). and that Angel kept that love of the arts. I just think that the demon, once loose in season 2, was so mad (furious to the point of insane) that these attributes remained pretty well buried. He did draw Buffy, et. al but apparently felt only sadistic glee.

I guess that could be a plausible explanation. Angelus certainly displayed some humanity later in the season (albeit incredibly negative aspects), but maybe he was still "in shock" or on a high after his soul being taken away that it hadn't really sunk in yet.

I guess maybe The Judge was honing in a strong, surface positive emotions. Like a love for somebody else, or a deep love of learning, knowledge and other things.

To me, Angelus never really 'loved' that positively, at least in comparison to Spike- as vampires go.
His relationship with Darla was more akin to a couple of serial killers creating havoc rather than a Spike/Dru's 'Sid and Nancy' type thing.

It was a meeting of minds rather than of hearts, if that makes sense. 🙂
