I remember seeing a thread about this somewhere but for the life of me, I don't know where it is...so to the lovely, lovely mods, really sorry if this is a double up.

Anyhoo....so about foreshadowing. We know about the "Little Miss Muppet counting down from 7-3-0" and we know "Be back before Dawn"...do we know of any others?

I was watching The Body last night and something occurred to me. When Willow pretends to fight Xander and he says "You know I can't take you", anyone else think this is possibly alluding to Grave in Season 6 where Xander is the only one that can stop Willow from destroying the world?

Any thoughts? Can anyone think of any others?

oooooooo that's a good mention. i always thought that when willow said she thinks she was 'kinda gay' in dopplegangland meant something too.

i've also heard that in um "restless" in buffy's dream, her clock sais 7:30 (referring again to faith's foreshadowing) and buffy says 'its SO late' and tara says something like 'that clock is completely wrong' it marks the halfway point of buffy's death... 365 days. "restless" actually had a lot i think. there was also the big hint into the next season that plays along with faith's.. the whole 'death is your gift' sequence.

there's some sites that give a lot of examples of tons of little things to notice... i think joss puts things everywhere.

Personally while I do believe that Joss puts in many of these little things on purpose, some things might just be our fanatic and paranoid minds making connections that never were put there.

^ yeah there have been some interviews where joss admits some instances are entirely coincidental. i guess he's just awesome like that lol

In the Freshman, when Xander and Buffy re-meet in the Bronze, Xander says something like, "Yes...once more, with less feeling."

Or something like that. 🙂

Oh, I remember that... 🙂

They could all be a mass of coincidences, but it's still fun to go back and speculate whether or not some tiny piece of info refers to something else in the whole picture.

We know Joss intentionally put some in so maybe when he says some of it is purely coincidental he's just trying to cover his tracks when really he's a foreshadowing mastermind!

Or not :lmao:

in 'phases', that whole thing where larry thinks xander is gay, im pretty sure that was supposed to be possible foreshadowing to xander being gay, since joss wasnt sure at the time who he wanted to become gay, willow or xander.

hahaha xander would have been a funny gay man
Alright, I must have missed a couple lessons between here and now..haha what does the scene in Grd. Day prt2 mean when Faith says "Little miss muppet, counting down from 7-3-0?"

this pretty much sums it up, dawn being "little miss muppet".

Actually, the "counting down from 7-3-0" according to Whedon, referred to the introduction of Dawn, which came exactly 730 days later.

EDIT: hey, we keep saying little miss muppet, but she's not some little puppet; its little miss muffet like the nursery rhyme! 😛

Oh lol...I know it's Muffet actually...I totally didn't even realise I'd writen Muppet!

Maybe I had Smile Time on the brain 😉

Oh yeah....I feel idiotic. :lmao:

we all do sometimes! here's a cheese basket to make you feel better
I don't get it...

Wait! Maybe it's supposed to mean that Buffy was the "footstool" in creating Dawn. Because Dawn was based upon Buffy or whatever, Buffy herself gave support to the creation of the third Summers gal. Just a theory.

When Glory is going on her first psychotic rant (cos she needs a brain to suck)...she's torturing the monk, has that mail man tied up...seems to me that she utters the phrase "little miss muffet". Glory's the spider, Dawn's the little miss.

From The Freshman

Buffy: Can't wait till mom gets the bill for these books, I hope it's a funny aneurysm.

In season 5, Joyce died of a brain aneurysm.

AHHH that's so freaky.
okay, not completely sure if this is the thread for this, but i dont think it needs a whole thread of its own. anyway, i saw 'all the way' recently, and i noticed something. its not huge grand scheme foreshadowing, but when the old man catches dawn holding the pumpkin, he warns her that she shouldnt mess with those, because sometimes they bite. he was talking about the jack-o-lantern, but does anyone think there is a connection between that line and the fact that justin and zack are really vampires?

I don't think that is foreshadowing sweetie, that is just a line in the episode.

Now if he had said 'you shouldn't mess with those because in four months time your powerful wicca friend will go all dark and veiny and try to destroy the world and use a fireball to kill two geeks called Andrew and Jonathan and the fireball will resemble a pumpkin', then maybe🙂
