Forever Charmed - the Series Finale (Spoilers for UK)

Even though I didn't watch the show from the beginning, I did want to see the series finale. Unfortunately, I missed it. Forgot to set my tape, duh!

I started watching the DVD's with my sister, and we're up to waiting for season five, so I guess I'll just have to wait for it to come out to see it again. From what I can tell from WB site, they are not planning on re-airing the episode.

I really enjoyed the season finale, yes, even the last 'mushy' ten minutes. I felt like it gave me closure on the whole show, knowing what happened to them, and I thought it was a nice tribute to the show & 8 years of entertainment. I was kinda sad that they didn't show any family pics with Prue in at the end, as that seemed a little odd to me, showing all those photos but not seeing any of her amongst them. I wasn't a big fan of Prue at all, but it just felt weird and made her seem very insignificant. No biggie though.

I'm sad to see it end, as it's kind of the end of an era to me, all my 3 favourite shows have now ended, Buffy & Angel being the other two, despite the fact that Charmed had gotten a little lost the last couple of seasons or so, I still enjoyed it for what it was, and will miss it.

i dont think they would be allowed to show Doherty on it, after what happened 5 years ago...honestly they just needed to let bygones be bygones. at least for the fans...

Why wouldn't they be allowed to show her? I do remember an episode where I think it's Phoebe and Paige get brought threw the memories or Piper and Leo, and they showed memories from over the years but never Prue!

OK, well one would assume that Prue's image is still under the ownership of Shannon.
If anyone remembers back to(if they watched it) the DS9 series end when there was a remembrance of 7 years and Jadzia Dax was not shown in any of those memories, even though she was a series regular for 6 years, it was because although the Character was owned by Star Trek, the image is 100% Farrells, no matter what so to show her, they have to pay her...i'm guessing its the smae with Prue

Yeah, I figured that was probably the likely reason why references were made to Prue, but no images of her were shown. I didn't really expect to see Prue in the finale anyway, but it's still a shame, I'm not even sure why it irked me really as I actually preferred Paige to Prue anyway 'lol', it's just in the context of the show you would expect to see photos of Prue as she was an integral part of their lives, but looks like their hands were tied. 🙂

Like someone mentioned earlier though, it was a little tribute to the character of Prue, showing the little girl using her power at the end to close the door.

I just saw it now, and I was pretty impressed It wasn't as good as the Buffy finale, but I think it was a fitting end to the show. But it really does make you wonder, that if they are able to make a good, well scripted episode like that, why haven't they been doing that for the last few years!!

It was a pretty good end to the show. A little too mushy, maybe, but still good. Happy endings are nice. 🙂

I've only seen bits of episodes of Charmed and never have been impressed by it. I saw the finale was on living tv but missed the start. I was planning on watching it tonight in hope that it might spark my interest so much as to buy the whole series on dvd! But when i turned it on I was greeted with a boring and quite frankly chesey conversation between two guys walking down a street. (Bear in mind i know no names or anything) They came to the realisation that they needed to get the charmed one on their side or something. Then there was a bit with a kid cheating at a card game. I just didnt get into it. Its a shame. maybe if i watched the episode from the begining i would've been able to continue watching. Or maybe the episode was just for the people already fans of the show, and a newbie like myself would be lost at the point of everything. In the space of about a minute of watching I was put off. Still not a fan. If its on again I will try and watch it all!

the ep you're talking about was 'Kill Billie, vol. 2' and was the second to last episode. but i think you were on the money...if you didn't watch the whole season, you would have probably gotten lost if you had continued to watch this ep.
the ep, for me, was good, but not great. Leo's return was a little abrupt for me...i would have preferred he come back directly after the blast, maybe finding Piper himself and bringing her around. i was getting a little pissed at everyone online for saying that Leo ordering Piper to leave the manor so soon was wrong...but after seeing it, i have to agree with them. i know the police were coming, but they could have spent a little more time searching for Paige instead of just leaving her there. Leo didn't know what was going on with Billie and the sisters, so i can't fault him for stopping Piper.
from all the hype that's been going around about the finale, i hope it's as good as everyone's making it out to be. guess i'll have to wait until next week to find out!

I skipped The episode that was on Living TV tonight, Kill Billie Vol 2, and just went straight to the finale. But I saw it tonight, and yeah It was really weird how they didn't look to see if Paige was ok, Just Phoebe!

i rewatched it today, and i too was thinking "what about paige?" when all piper seemed to care about was phoebe. i kno uve known her longer, but paige is still a sister too.

Maybe it's because I watched BtVS so quickly, but I never felt close to any of the characters. Buffy seems to just do her job because it's her duty and there's no other reason for it.
The Halliwells do things to save--and help--their family first...the world is saved only because they saved thier family.

Perhaps it's more of a family-centered storyline that grabs me, but I never got close to tears with BtVS at any point.

I would guess that it was from watching the seires so fast, that you would not feel attached to the characters, But that whole idea of Buffy only doing her job because it was her job, was dealt with on the show, I mean in the first episode we see a Buffy who has quit the council, and quit being a Slayer, because of what it has cost her. But the moment people are in trouble, there's no thinking about it she throws herself into the fight, and not because she was told to but because it's who she is. Then again when Buffy has quit being a Slayer in "Anne" She gives up her new life in order to help others, Then when another Slayer shows up both in Season 2 and 3, Buffy is given a chance to get out, Her mother even says it to her that Faith could have ken over, and Buffy says it is not that easy to quit, But it technically would have been, The council has always had one Slayer, But it was Buffy herself who would not give up. - So Buffy definitely didn't only do it cuz it was her job.

The Family thing I thought was kinda the same in Both, I mean Both finale battle were aimed at Their respective families, The one in Charmed was aimed at the Halliwells, And In Buffy it was aimed at her and her friends, Which are her family!

Of course you could debate the fact that in the Charmed season five finale, Phoebe and Paige tell newcomer Chris to return Leo from being an Elder because (in their words) "Leo is our whitelighter, our brother-in-law and our friend"

i don't agree with this...i don't agree with this at all! by the time S7 came around, Xander and Willow were def buffy's family! she had lost her mother, her father didn't want to know her, Dawn was the only 'true' family she had.
but Buffy replaced those people with Willow and Xander and Giles... even Quintin Travers could see that, as he said in 'Helpless':
"you have a father's love for the girl."

'Family' doesn't HAVE to mean blood relatives...you can create a family that means as much, or as more, to you than the one you were bron into.

yes, the whole premise of Charmed was based on their family bond, but i don't think i can put it any better than Buffy herself:

Tara's dad: "We are her blood kin. Who the hell are you?"
Buffy: "We're family."

I didn't understand a thing you just said ... Maybe you should watch Buffy a little slower and actually try and grasp the full meaning of the show before you start trying to analyze the meaning behind Buffy's actions.
