Forever Charmed - the Series Finale (Spoilers for UK)

ok, finally able to watch this tonight, and i have to admit, i liked it...sort of.
i did get a bit confused with all the jumping back and forth, and trying to remember that Patty and Grams are supposed to be dead, and Grams doesn't know who Paige is, and Patty doesn't know Paige or Pheobe...it just spun my head a little.
i thought Billie's conversion back to good was a little quick and the sister's accepted it a little too quickly for my tastes.
it was great to see adults Wyatt and Chris actually have a scene together where they don't hate each other...the only time they were on screen together was in 'Chris-crossed' when adult Wyatt was evil.
i thought the 'Uncle' Coop' revelation was funny, and the relationship between adults Wyatt and Chris seemed to be really good.
the only part i didn't like was after they started writing in the book...i admit that it was nice to see them all get the families they wanted, Piper and Leo finally getting their little girl, Pheobe finally meeting 'Ladybug' and all that other feel good stuff.
but i think, personally, i might have been happier if they had ended at the group hugging...but with Henry being there too, coz he was kinda absent!

overall, i'd give it 8/10

i would be giving neg here, but as its you, i'll forgive;)
Dzhugashvili disagrees: You're the best, around! Nothings ever gonna keep you down! You're the best!
You know it's kinda pathetic...what with the whole getting laughs by trying to break down a 15 year old ON THE INTERNET. What, were you banned from the local park for making toddlers cry? Couldnt get your laughs from that anymore?

still havent seen it.. does anyone know when season 8 is airing in Australia.. I mean season 7 is on sale now... why isnt season 8 on tv yet? I hate Australian tv sometimes!

I dont know... thats a great thing for oz..but I really dont think its fair they have released all these seasons without airing season 8.... and not do that for other countries.. you know?

I've only seen bits of episodes of Charmed and never have been impressed by it...when i turned it on I was greeted with a boring and quite frankly chesey conversation between two guys walking down a street. Then there was a bit with a kid cheating at a card game.

"I've only seen bits of episodes of Charmed and never have been impressed by it"
My thought about Buffy's series. Then I bought the DVDs.

As for the scenes:
Not exactly important scenes, there.
As far as I can recall, those guys didn't have names. Just your average expendable underworld henchmen.
And the kid cheating at cards is there to show that the younger of the two had come into his magical abilities.

Why would you buy dvd's of a programme you think was utter crapola. I know I would not ever buy the charmed dvd's. I think you made a mistake buying the Buffy dvd's. If you didn't like what you saw (which is uncomprehensable to me) then you shouldn't buy the entire series. Plus you obviously don't understand the series(shown by posts in other threads) even though apparently you have watched them all. I think you wasted your money. I'd never waste my money buying a show that I dislike on dvd.

As for the scenes:
Just because they weren't important characters the guys didn't have to be such poor actors. I think the casting in the series, from the small amount of the show I've seen has been incredibly poorly done. Even the three main sisters (I don't even know their names) I have yet to be impressed by their performances. I just thought the scenes I watched were poorly done (script wise and delivery by the cast) and didn't inspire me to keep watching. Like I said already another factor was the fact that info wise I didn't understand enough of the series to continue watching.

They each have their moment. If you watch more than 2 minutes of an episode, you would see that. The end of that very episode, for example, is when Piper(the oldest) found Phoebe after the house blew up. That scene was amazing.

Like I said already another factor was the fact that info wise I didn't understand enough of the series to continue watching.

So, it's a crappy show, but you don't understand it? That's the nicest thing you have ever said.
Just out of curiosity, what parts of what episodes have you seen? Just describing sections are good enough for me to grasp an understanding of what you have watched. Have you just watched five minutes of the entire series...

Well I didn't find the scene amazing, but I do think that Holly (Piper) is the best actor on the show, Phoebe is ok, and Paige was fine when she first started, but I think she got worse as it went on! And funnily I thought those two bad guys walking down the street were the two best actors of their kind (The underworld henchmen), cuz usually they are utter crap, I mean they usually cant act at all, They give some really cringe worthy performances!

I thought the entire episode didn't really make much sense, one why were there no consequences of so much time travelling etc, and why do the sisters destinies change all the bloody time, we have seen so many 'visions' of them in the future but not one of their futures was even similar to these visions, what is going on?

i agree about the no consequences thing...one of the main storylines of the series was the fact that the sisters couldn't use magic for personal gain...wasn't Piper and Leo's time travelling just a little bit selfish? all they wanted was fir Paige and Pheobe to not die, they had already saved the world.

as for the destiny thing, the writers of this show aren't like Joss and co. Joss had pretty much everything that was going to happen throughout the series' run worked out by the first season, at least as far as 'Angel' was concerned. Charmed lost it's creator half way through it's run, so her ideas obviously weren't concidered after that, so with so many writers, they just didn't remember most of the things that happened in earlier seasons, i guess.

'They each have their moment. If you watch more than 2 minutes of an episode, you would see that. The end of that very episode, for example, is when Piper(the oldest) found Phoebe after the house blew up. That scene was amazing.'

Those 2 minutes were enough to put me off. In the end I'm not going to sit through something I'm not enjoying in the hope that it might get better.

'So, it's a crappy show, but you don't understand it? That's the nicest thing you have ever said.

I think I've said nicer things before. I can't remember every part of every episode I've seen. Literally most of the time when I'm flicking through the channels its either on channel 5 or living tv. I might watch until the break but by that time I've usually changed channels. One bit i remember was in a car park, and there was a demon they 'vanquished'. As fight scenes go it was pretty poor. I've seen many times when they've frozen the bad guy, or kicked them and they've fallen. Not impressed.

I've seen numerous guys appearing and disappearing the house and theres been some appalling actor as a love interest for one of the characters.

Like I've said I haven't watched much of the show at all. I don't even know the names of the characters. BUT from what I have seen I have formed an opinion. I don't like it at all. The theme song is good I'll give it that. But its not for me. I've said my piece but quote me if you will Chasing cordy. I'll be sure to respond with even nicer things!

I say the same to people who watch bits of buffy and say "it sucks". You cant base an opinion on 2 minutes of a 40 minute episode. A) You won't understand what's happening. B) That's like saying you hate americans because you didnt like the two you've met.

I think you can base it on two minuets of viewing, I mean if someone watches two minuets of Buffy and says they don't like it, probably the main reason they don't like it is because they don't understand whats going on. If someone watches Charmed for two minuets they could decide they don't like it because of the terrible acting, and the terrible dialog! That would be enough to turn people away.

I think you can base it on two minuets of viewing...

I partly agree with that.
You can watch the whole 40 minutes of Charmed's Once in a blue moon episode and be totally stunned by its suckiness and ask why they bothered to waste any film in recording that!
On the flip side, if you watch 10 seconds of Morality Bites you will be impressed--especially at the end as Phoebe is about to be burned...

I think on an individual basis, Buffy's series is superior. It's got better writing and more enjoyable episodes.
But as a series goes, Charmed is better, but much more difficult to understand.

I suggest if you don't like Charmed, start from the beginning and forget the acting. Just try to follow the storyline...

I love that episode Morality Bites! That's excellent!
But as a series goes, Charmed is better, but much more difficult to understand.

Difficult to understand. Its all handed on a plate. "Three sisters, who are decendants of witches, are 'the power of three' and must protect the innocent and fight demons. Prue dies, Paige is discovered (half-sibling), and it happens again. Piper gets married, then they seperate, reunite, seperate, rinse, lather, repeat. Phoebe falls in love with bad guys, moans about it. Goes to college nearly as many times as she gets married. Paige used to be an alcholic which isn't mentioned after season four, her parents died when she was a teen. She dedicated her lives to helping others."

But I won't rant. I watched the finale. Was okay, soppy and all that. Nothing great, but what I expected. The thing that really stuck on my mind - Fiona Apple (Patty) looks just like Charisma Carpenter.

I somehow missed that sentence the first time I read it! Buffy is better then Charmed, and there's no ifs and butts about it, Buffy is considered revolutionary, It is discussed at length by critics, and fans. It is regularly mentioned in The best TV moments lists from various sources, Charmed is not, because no one cares!

And funnily the thing most people don't like about Charmed is the fact that there's noting about it that's difficult to understand, everything is handed to you on a plate, There's no thinking about it, everything is there. The only difficult thing to follow is the countless contradictions in the show, and it's lack of ability to stick to it's mythology.

Couldn't have said it better myself
And funnily the thing most people don't like about Charmed is the fact that there's noting about it that's difficult to understand.

I can see we have different ideas of what "difficult" means.
Three sisters that are witches with destiny is a legitimate description and if that was what the show was about, it would be lame. But it isn't.

What makes Charmed difficult to understand is not the sister stuff. It's the fact that when the series begins, we have three sisters getting their magical powers restored[/i] and one of the three comes back home after being in New York for the previous six months.
Why did they not have their powers at the beginning of the show and why did one sister leave home for six months? Both of those issues are discussed in later episodes, but in terms of time, those events should have been first on the list.
That's what is tough to grasp.

Now I admit it's not an epic reason, but it is a viable reason for Charmed's difficulty. Also, they do tend to overuse the time travel concept a bit and that's annoying, but it's what makes the show decent.

Charmed = three sisters
Buffy = vampire slayer
Sounds pretty simple no matter what show you use, eh?

But when the show starts we didn't know they had their powers restored, We just thought they were given powers, It was in a later episode that we see them in the past, and they have their powers and we find out they had their powers, was it in the same episode we find out that they were bound? (I think so but i'm not sure) Technically Buffy had the same thing, We are told Buffy is a slayer, a human with enhanced abilities, and we don't find out for 7 years how she was made, so it should be more difficult to understand then Charmed
