Forum Plugin For Smartphones

Hi everyone,

First and foremost thanks for all the hard work that goes into running the forums. It's much appreciated. 🙂

I've recently discovered a forum plugin that creates a really nice interface for iPhone, Android and other smartphone users. It's called Tapatalk...

I've used a few of the iPhone apps that create custom interfaces to forums and while some are OK they really aren't that much better than the small browser versions and mobile skins that most forums use. This plugin creates a very nicely designed interface. You can see some examples at the Tapatalk website. I'm using this on the forums at my podcast, 'Tuning In To Scifi TV', and I love how it works on my iPhone. Checking for new threads, posts and PMs is nice and fast. The plugin is free for forum owners to use but most forum members would need to purchase the app (iPhone & Android versions are $2.99) in order to use it. However, once you purchase the app you can use it to access thousands of other forums that also use this plugin.

I'm not affiliated with Tapatalk and I don't make anything for recommending them. I'm just a forum member who would love to use my smartphone more often to keep up on things and this is the best solution I've come across so I'm recommending it to all the forums I regularly visit.

We will take a look at it, we do however have a mobile skin that you can use that gives you the basic forum without all the heavy graphics.

The mobile skin does help quite a bit over the standard one for small browsers but it's still very difficult to interact because of the layouts on small browsers.

This plugin is a completely different approach that makes posts and threads so so much easier to read and respond to. 🙂
