Fox: No Hiatus for Prison Break

Fox is leaning toward running 22 consecutive episodes first-run of Prison Break this season straight through, choosing not to pull the series at the end of the November sweeps as it did last season, before bringing it back in March, Preston Beckman, executive vp, strategic program planning at Fox said today at the International Radio & Television Society breakfast session.

Last season, Fox pulled the series after the Nov. 28 episode and brought it back in first-run on March 20, airing it through May 22 which was the final week of the season. At the time, Fox got complaints from viewers who wanted to watch the series in consecutive weeks, like Fox airs its drama series 24.

This season, Fox has already aired 11 episodes but will continue running the next 11 originals. "We do have a little break because we will be airing two BCS [college Bowl Championship Series] games and a two-hour 24 premiere in January (in the Prison Break time period)," Beckman said, but it will run straight through after that."

Speaking of cool. Now that's cool. But pre-empting Prison Break for College Bowling - Huh?? A 24 premiere I get, but college bowling???

College Bowling, eh? I guess FOX couldn't get the rights to Extreme Championship Paint Drying.
 
It sounds like they've made their final decision now, and it's going to look more like this.

Fox announced it will bring Prison Break back from a scheduled hiatus earlier than expected. The show, which airs a midseason "finale" next week, was originally slated to return in March, as it did last year. Now, the network says it will bring the show back on January 29.

Fox will air the remaining nine episodes of Prison Break without repeats, and then slide a new show into the time slot in April, according to Variety. This will give Fox a powerful kickoff to 2007, with Break, 24, and American Idol all returning in the month.

People. PEOPLE!

College Bowl games are not bowling. They are college (American) football games. Sort of like League Cups in soccer, but not exactly.
