Fox : Specializing In Killing Good Shows Young
Fox's "Wonderfalls" has fallen for good, while it really is over for UPN's "Game Over."
Both midseason skeins have been yanked from the air, effective immediately. "Wonderfalls" is officially canceled, while "Game Over" is on hiatus (and presumed dead.)
Both skeins generated solid reviews, with critics particularly passionate about the 20th Century Fox TV/Regency-produced "Wonderfalls." Latter skein started off in Fox's 9 p.m. Friday deathslot and failed to attract many viewers; a switch to Thursdays last week was a Nielsen disaster.
Exec producer Tim Minear said he and his colleagues are hoping to find a home for the nine unaired episodes.
"Once we recover from the not-shock, Todd (Holland), Bryan (Fuller) and I will see if there's some venue in which to air the remaining episodes," Minear said on his personal Web site, Timminear.net. "As I have said from the start, the 13 taken as a whole tell a story and go to a place, so a run of this 'limited' series would not be unsatisfying elsewhere."Fox will fill the 9 p.m. Thursday slot with encore showings of its new reality skein "The Swan," which bows Wednesday.
UPN, which had been double running "Game Over" and airing sitcom repeats on Fridays, will shift to a movie night this week, starting with "Double Take." (As reported by VARIETY)
