Fox to not air Ep 13 of Dollhouse

FOX have issued a press release for their May episodes which says episode 12 ("Omega"), airing in one months time, will be the finale of Dollhouse. That episode is written and directed by Firefly and Angel veteran Tim Minear.

There is also an episode 13, entitled "Epitaph One", directed by Joss and written by Jed and Maurissa. However FOX have failed to announce if or when this will air. Since it is no longer considered the season finale (according to FOX's press release), it seems questionable as to if this episode will now make it to air.

FOX Is Not Airing Episode 13!

The season finale will be episode 12.

So far Dr.Horrible(who runs that twitter?) and Felicia Day have showed dissapointment via twitter about this.

I'm guessing this episode had Felicia.

I really hope the reason for this is to show it as season two premiere.

I heard the reason for it is cause episode 13 is like "Restless" meaning episode 12 is more finale like so they decided 1x13 should be 2x01.

WHO KNOWS ???

I refuse to believe that even Fox would pull something like that. There has to be some kind of an explanation. D:

Felicia says it will only be on the DVD. So, not the Season 2 premiere obviously if she's right.

So is it an unnecessary "wrap up" ep now? Or is the show canned?

aybe it's like what BONES did and have four season 4 episodes as treats in the season three DVD. IDK i'm trying to look on the brightside and it's getting dimmer every minute :(

I don't get it! If there are 13, why show 12? What are they gonna replace it with?
With my experience with Fox, probably nothing! Reruns of something else or a new reality show that no one wants to see anyway.
Barring national tragedy, I never hear of other networks doing this. It's not like they say, "Oh, we have 23 episodes of Law and Order (or CSI) this season, but I think we'll just show 22."
The only time I ever hear of a network not airing an episode is when it's about a train wreck or a bomb and we just recently had one and they're trying to not upset a large group of people by making a "story" out of it.

It just makes no sense!
 
Well it is Fox we are talking about. To them it makes sense to pay for an episode they will never air on tv and just waste some of their money. Because it would be that hard for them to air it..Atleast the dvd comes like 3-4 weeks after the show ends so we wont have to wait that long to see the episode.
 
If they're dumping the show, then why show episodes 9-12 and not 13? There's got to be some other reason.

It may be that Fox thinks it may want a season 2, and episode 13 would be too much of a momentum-killer... Joss & Co. made this episode knowing it might have to serve as a series finale.

I'm thinking Fox is waiting to decide about season 2. If they decide they want the show to continue, then they'll end season 1 with episode 12. If they decide to cancel the show, maybe they'll show #13 over the summer sometime, or put it on the DVD set.

Fox network ordered 13 episodes of the show. Joss Whedon shot a pilot, and then the pilot was scrapped in favor of a new pilot, but for contractual purposes, that unaired pilot counted as part of the 13-episode order -- which means Fox only had 12 episodes to deal with. Eight of those have aired, and four more are still to come, all of which have been scheduled, with the last of those -- with the very finale-ish title of "Omega" -- set to air May 8.

Day's episode, called "Epitaph One," was apparently filmed by the studio independent of the agreement -- or, at least, independent of what Fox network considers to be in the agreement -- and does not seem to be tied in to the story in "Omega." In other words, if there's a cliffhanger in "Omega" (and I don't know if there is), it's not going to be resolved in "Epitaph One."

Fox network won't decide the fate of "Dollhouse" until Upfront week, near the end of May, and the decision not to air "Epitaph One" has nothing whatsoever to do with renewal. It's unclear whether "Epitaph One" will turn up as a bonus on the season one DVD, or on Hulu, or even if it might be a bonus episode for a hypothetical season two. All I know for now is that it's not going to air on Fox as part of the first season run of "Dollhouse."

Maybe it's a ploy to get us to buy the DVD's?
What can I say? I'm big on trying to kind logical explanations for illogical actions.

It makes sense if episode 12 ends on a cliffhanger and 13 is just a random episode, and you know it will be a cliffhanger of some sort.

It would have actually been incredibly stupid for them to have a cool ending like episode and then throw in something random after it, that would have been annoying to watch.

I assume all the episodes are gonna start building towards the end, if you have a random episode thrown in there it's will just break the momentum, and possibly loose viewers.

Quite the mess! I still think it would be just stupid not to air on episode that they paid for though.

I get it! Maybe no one told Fox they weren't running a junkyard. I will send them a memo right away!
