Fray as a movie?

You know who might be cool for the role, Michelle Rodriguez (S.W.A.T, Fast & the Furious). She's a tough girl.

Too old though.

It's sad how the majority of actors, models, singers and entertainers in general are replaced every 3 or so years. Gotta keep it fresh.

Which ties in with the Fray thing because you'd probably want some 16-19 year old girl playing the role.

Because I'm tired of this "I'm thirty but I play a fifteen year old on a television show".

I very much agree. We have that on BTVS too but maybe less obvious than in some shows and movies. It's just really disturbing most of the time. (Plus it makes me feel really really young since the fifteen-year-olds look Way older than I do.)

Exactly. The BtVS cast may have not been the exact aesthetic definition of teenagers but they pulled it off.

SMG and AH did an especially good job at being a teenager
Yeah i would prefer someone young but i cant really think of any young actors up to it, which is why i think it should be someone unknown

How about Lindsay Lohan, I mean she's SOoooo A-List right now!!

For those of you who don't know I'm kidding - shame on you 😛

I can remember reading recently a criticism of The OC is that the "teenagers" are actually close in age to their parents.

Yeah we got it on Buffy but SMG and AH played teens well, and NB looked teenish in the first few years but then it was clear hes not 20ish any more. Ah well.

Yeah someone relatively unknown would be cool, but then we wouldn't be able to come up with ideas.

OMG and like Hilary Duff could so play the villian. I mean there would be tension like whoa. They could get out all their frustration and anger. Like ya know?

???? who's lindsay lohan, what about AMand from the amanda show could she pull it off- why hilary duff- sorry if once again i seem really slow but i've lived a very sheltered life lol

I have a suggestion. Summer Glau: the girl who plays River on Firefly.

She can play that age group. The cast and crew of Serenity say she's great in Serenity. She has the body type, trained as ballet dancer, so she can do the physical stuff, and if she can play crazed, so she can play tough. Plus Joss likes here.

Well, Mischa Barton is 18 but Benjamin McKenzie is like 26... And he sure doesn't look 17 (or whatever age he's supposed to be).

AH looked so much younger than she were, all through the show..

I can't say who I would like to play Fray. I would want it to be some actress I don't know about yet so.. (Well, actually, I know this girl who would be quite good but.. heh, it's never gonna be her so, never mind..)

Yeah Mischa is one of the few people who are the same age as the character they play. But it is still unrealistic though, because girl look like she forty.

When I found out she's the same age as I am, I got quite.. surprised and depressed. Heh.

I was going to suggest it before actually. Looking at them both she has the same body type (which I think Joss put as "slim"). The face would be similar if hers was "toughened up" a bit. Summer has this whole pretty ballerinaness about her but Melka is toughened and aged beyond her years.

Um, I suggested this bit of casting a few years back, I might as well do it again.

Fray- Scarlett Johansen
Urkon- Micheal Clark Duncan
Harth- Jake Gellanhal
Icarus- William Defoe
Gunther- Steve Buscemi

Yeah, a Fray movie would be kick ass and if I were Joss (God know I'm not) I would wait up on the second installment of the comic and just make the movie. And in the movie, add tidbits that he didn't get to do in the comic, like explaining what happened with the spell in Chosen and the Scoobs final battle.

Yeah that would be what i did, i would love to know who the slayer was, i mean cos it possible that it wasn't even buffy which would be a strange twist, imagine if it was faith that would be good or imagine all my nightmares came true and it was Vi or kennedy lol!!!

I don't see Scarlett Johannson as Fray, I'm afraid. She's a terrific actress, but she has an ethereal quality that would be weird for Fray. I just can't imagine her in fingerless gloves and combats. HJmmmm... what's Fairuza Balk up to at the mo'?

Scarlet would make a better Buffy. ;)

Don't quote me on this, but the way I remember the last slayer from the comic, she looked kind of Buffyesque. I got the impression she was thin, had long hair. I chose to believe it was blond, and she wore a skirt.

Yeah, she did look distinctly Buffyish. Got the impression that we were supposed to assume it was Buffy, but it probably would have lost it's impact if they'd just shown her. Much as I'd love to think that Faith leads the last army, no way is it supposed to be her unless she plans a very drastic makeover very soon. On the other hand- Urkonn's account of events is just hazy enough that the two panels are likely intended as an abstract depiction of the last fight rather than a documentary account of Buffy Vs. the World.

The question is:

Why wouldn't it be Buffy?

It would be safe to say that she is probably one of the greatest slayers of all time. If not the greatest. She's world renowned and even though we may not know the exact details of who currently holds the power to activate the next chosen, we know that she is the TRUE slayer. Not to mention it was she who was destined to find the scythe and wield it.

Now I don't mean to come off as a Buffy-elitist, but the girl is good at her job.

And after looking at the account from Fray about the final battle, it's clear that we do not know a lot.

Does this slayer fight all the demons on earth or do they come from other dimensions?
What happens to her? And her army (including the mystical ones, which I assume would be Willow)?
Is she too banished from this dimension?

That one little comic book page gives just a tiny bit of insight about that final battle. And darn it, I want to know more!

Edit:

We have been told bits and pieces about the Old Ones. Is it at all possible that Buffy is fighting the Old Ones or that there are some Old Ones in the army that she and her crew are facing?

I mean that is what the scythe was made for...

I'd imagine mystic allies would be more than Willow. I'd imagine Faith, Angel, Spike (lets say they lived, okay?) and anyone else shes befriended over her time would come to help. But I'd hope they wouldn't be banished, I loves Willow!

Im sure if they wanted to they could make a great movie based aorund the final battle described in Fray, presuming the gal is Buffy. But who else would wear a skirt to a final battle. Buffy is so impractical with her clothing. I mean in Chosen she had her hair down, yet none of it got in her way when she was Spider-Manning her way out of town. Gotta love her for it though.
