This made me smile.

THE FUTURE OF SLAYING!

In 2001 Joss Whedon wrote Fray, a future look at his "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" universe. Now with Joss' name cemented in comicdom with Astonishing X-Men, Runaways and Buffy Season 8, newcomers to Whedon's work have been boosting the eight-issue miniseries' back market prices. Sets have been selling for $30 a pop and seem to still be on the rise. Keep an eye on this one as Whedon's Buffy run continues.

Crap, I keep looking for a copy of it and can't find one! But hopefully this will push through the 2nd part!

Forgive me, I'm tired, but does that mean all the Fray that he made are being sold out really quick, or he's making new ones?

Yes, on the first question. No on the second, but one can hope.
I wouldn't mind another Fray installment. So much left unanswered. I kind of wanted to see her slay her brother.. or at least fight back, bloody hell, he just ran right over her and her sister. Anyway I suppose Joss' other projects are taking more priority atm.
 
Wouldn't that be something, and with the coming of online TV we could most likely all find a way to watch it.
 
Oh I agree that would be cool to see Fray on tv. And if you can't find Fray try the library , that's where I got a copy to Read.
 
This probably doesn't come as any surprise to many readers, but for the few who are interested just in reading, not collecting, the trade paperback, containing all of the issues in one cover, is available through Amazon.Com and probably tfaw, Lone Star, of any of the other used comics suppliers.

I'm gonna ask the stupid n00b-question here... but why is getting the TPB so different from getting the separate issues in the eyes of avid comic book readers?
 
I'm thinking, Allycat, kind of what white avenger said, although he didn't state it directly. Some people are more interested in reading the whole thing instead of buying each one and collecting them.

Plus you get a whole different cover and maybe some behind the scences goodies. 😀

Yeah, I get that. Those are good reasons to buy the TPB, but what I was talking about is a general feeling amongst avid comic book fans that reading and collecting separate issues is in some way superior.

It really depends on what kind of comic fan you are. Some people prefer to have the single issues just because of a purist kind of mentality, and some prefer it because a complete run of the single issues is going to be more valuable than the trade paperback, as monthlies have a somewhat limited run, wherase trades are produced on a far larger scale, especially these days.

Personally, I like collecting single issues if I can, but if I miss a mini-series entirely during it's monthly run (as I did with Fray) I have no qualms about picking up the trade instead.

For people looking for the trade, I would recommend special ordering if you can't find it on the shelf. Borders, Barnes and Noble, and/or most local comic book shops will be willing to special order it for you if they can. Some comic shops may even be willing to ship it to you for an extra fee.

Otherwise, there's always eBay, Amazon, and whatever other internet shopping sites you might fancy.

And yep, I'd love to see some more Fray. I've been craving more since I first finished the trade, oh so long ago.
 
I wonder if Fray is coming back in her own mag, or if she'll be worked into Buffy 8, or Angel 6 somehow. I guess TV, animation, made for DVD, or movie is out of the question.

Hm...I suppose it's possible, but I wonder if that wouldn't be just a bit too far out there, unless we got some sort of side story featuring Melaka in the future. I think any kind of interaction between the characters (i.e. time travel) might be a bit far-fetched.

I wouldn't be suprised, however, if Joss found a way to set things up for Fray with Buffy Season 8. Like say, maybe the season concludes with Buffy sacrificing herself to banish demons from the Earth realm, as laid out in Fray?

Hearing that Fray is not dead, that made me happy. Hm, yea I wonder what he is planning, I would love to see another mag with her as the star, but seeing her in some way in season 8 would also be pretty awesome.

At first thought the problem there would seem to be it would mean the end of the Buffy franchise, because that slayer is sucked into the demon dimension. On the other hand Joss could get her out of there easy enough if that was what he wanted to do, so yeah, maybe. Who would she fight after that though, because all demons and magicks are supposed to be gone.

Yeah, the problem with that is that it essentially destroys any possibility for the Buffy franchise to move forward after that point - because, if Fray is anything to go on, nothing of consequence happens from that point until Melaka comes into the picture.
