So, in the final episodes of Buffy, our dearest slayer goes on a uber special mission to find the ever powerful Scythe. However, hundreds of years in the future, Fray never even mentions how the powerful object landed in her hands. Anyone know how she got it?

I don't think Fray Vol. 1 explained how she got the Scythe and where it had been all those years. However, Joss recently announced that a second Fray series is in the works, so maybe that will go on to explain more about what happened in the years between Buffy/Angel and Fray.

Really? Did someone specifically say "a Fray series". What I heard was some cryptic hints about Fray turning up. I'm not sure what they (Joss and Scott Allie) meant. For all I know they're talking about Fray making a time-travelling Buffy 8 appearance.

Wouldn't that be interesting from a scythe perspective? Two scythes in the same place, at the same time. But however they do it, yeah, I'd like to see more back history on the scythe too.

I also assumed it was another Fray series, but I like n4h's idea better... or actually I'd like both. Be cool to see some time travelling.

Yeah, that would be cool. Although, even though two scythes would be in the same place would their power be doubled? I don;t think so because both scythes would draw from the same power source, whatever that is.

Please let there be no time-travelling, that only mucks up the timeline in the most horrible ways.

good call. not everyone has read fray, so it time traveling would gunk-up the works.
Besides the Scythe, I'm more interested in learning what happened to all the Slayers between Willow's awakening all of the Potentials, and Fray's time. Was that explained? Did I miss it? Of course, I've always been more interested in the backstory......

In fact, the "Fray" series does show how Melaka Fray gets the scythe:
We see Urkonn give it to her.
It just doesn't really explain where it's been in the intervening years.

He just mentions it in the "voiceover" I think that's what he means. He says something like 'I give this to you... been lost for ieons etc...'
Then in The Tales of the Slayers you see how she finds that place with a huge painting of the sythe (in a Future New York) with watchers diaries etc.

Well, since we're obviously not worried about spoilers for anyone who hasn't read "Fray" yet...

Urkonn's voiceover: "I have a gift for you. It is a weapon, forged eons ago, for the Slayer alone. Lost for centuries. Carry it, for it is your sword and your scepter. Let it proclaim you the hero -- and the monster -- that you will need to be."

Don't know of any other items in the Slayer's warbag that fits that description.
