Ok, I don't know if this is the best place to post this, but I hope so! I plan to make a case for a fred/lorne ship.

Ok, now hear me out....

the first moment I recognized something was when fred said "there's no such thing as inevitable as long as you stand up and say 'you're evitable'" (not exact quote) and lorne said "I love her!"

then they both had the same thought about angel and cordelia - Kyrumption.... like fred thought she crushed on angel cause he was the handsome man that came to save her and lorne - I'm not saying he crushed on cordy - but he did say to angel that she was out of his (lorne's) league and that he could see the kyrumption between them

in spin the bottle - it's fred lorne goes to - with the "do you trust me".... and even having no memory - she does

and when they move to wolfram and hart they dance in the lobbey

and when she dies he basically falls apart.

Now, I think lorne felt it more than fred did, but I definitely can see a foundation for a ship here.

anyone with me?

God knows I love you Abbey, but I think you've misread this one 🙂

I think what you're seeing is true understanding, trust and friendship between two people. Which, in an ideal world would actually be the basis on which to build a 'ship. In this case however, it is a true firm friendship but nothing more, in my opinion.

Definitely a true friendship!!!!! The claim I'm trying to make is that lorne is actually in love with fred. I don't think the feelings are returned but I think there's a basis for a romance here.

and - not for nothing - but it's abby (no e) 🙂

I think this is the most likely case. I always read Lorne and Fred (Led? Frorne?) as great, true friends. It's pretty clear that Lorne cares tremendously for Fred, that's apparent from all the examples you outlined, but I don't think there were any real romantic undertones. However, like Jodast said, the trust and friendship they have would, ideally, be the perfect foundation for creating a romantic relationship.

Lorne definitely loves her I don't doubt that at all. I just don't think he was in love with her.

I think their respective experiences in Pylea gave them a bit of a connection too - like an inside joke (or torment?)

An interesting theory. What makes you think so?

He flirts with both sexes but has never shown any interest in entering a romantic or sexual relationship. Pylean demons appear to have different gender roles than humans, and they definitely have different anatomy - I think there's a fair chance that they have more than two genders, and that Lorne is of a type that simply doesn't "breed".

Yes, but I think the way he responded and reacted to Fred was different - distinct...

It doesn't really have anything to do with sexuality - I think, in Fred, he saw something special, and yes fell in love with it. Though he probably didn't realize how deep until she died.

You are going to kill me, but I disagreeeeee! Even Lorne and Angel made more sense. 😉 I think all there was between Lorne and Fred was a good friendship. Lorne learned to respect Fred over the course of the story, and for me that and their friendship is what made him react the way he did in 'A Hole In The World'. He would have reacted the same way if it had been happening to Angel, Cordy, Wes or Gunn. 🙂

I am gonna kill you tommy - very slow and painfully ;-)
A friendSHIP for sure, but I never ever got a romantic vibe. I never thought of Lorne as being interested in anything like that, with anyone. But its a cute theory 🙂

Lorne's words in the bar after fred's death - something to the effect of "I started drinking when i found out a girl I LOVE was going to die and I haven't stopped since and with each glass I keep hoping the last drop will push me over the edge". - I think Lorne was in love with Fred. 🙂

I love Fred and I love Lorne (my username is a nickname he gave her haha) but I never picked up on that at all. I agree with Jodast, that they were just really close friends.

I think Lorne is asexual.

I definitely agree. I think Lorne can appreciate a sexy person but I never saw him as being in love with or even deeply attracted to anyone on the show, which made me believe he was asexual.

I think Lorne and Fred had a very deep friendship. They understood and respected each other on a level that is rarely seen, I think, and it was beautiful but I don't think it was a romantic kind of love. I think they loved each other platonically.
