Fred or Illyria?

I was never a fan of Fred, but she was really adorable at times. Illyria annoyed me at first, but she actually started to grow on me so I chose her.

Fred. Of course, Fred. Fred, Fred, Fred, Fred and oh, look, there's Fred. Let's not forget mentioning Fred. To sum up, I'd like to say... Fred.

Illyria KILLED Fred. She KILLED her. Illyria's baaaaaad! She made me all Fred-grievy. I miss Fred. And yes, I'm sometimes having trouble remembering she's not real. =D

Plus, Fred's in my magnificent banner. (I allow myself to say "magnificent" cos I haven't made it. If I had and I was totally self-centered, I would also say magnificent. But I'm not... totally.)

Did you know that I love Fred?

Fred. I mean really! I loved her from "she's Fred. She does that too" right up until "why cant I stay" I knew she was gonna die. I knew when. I knew how, At the end of smile time, I cried, they only got like, half an episode, how sad is that? I was really upset with Illyria. I hated her. And still hate her. and I hate knox, I was sooooo rooting for wesley wen knox got shot oh! and the line "know you know how I feel" when Illyria discovered her world was gone. it was so sad when wesley died. I felt so sad for him!

OMG, I cannot believe I got spoiled two hours before watching the final episode. I don't blame you or anything, it's totally my fault but gee... Anyway. I just watched "Not Fade Away". Wesley does die. FakeFred's there.
May I know what are the hints people were referring to about how Fred may not be totally gone after all? I hardly would want her to come back from the dead now, she'd be so heartbroken with Wesley's death... Scratch that, I still want to see her back.

Oh my God, I'm so sorry, I surely didn't want this to spread, I'm so stupid. I always figured that once you're in the Season5 boards, now that the season ended airing years ago, everyone's free to discuss everything that's happened without worrying about people like me who watch the show later than everyone... I always thought "Hey, self, you're going in that thread, you know you might step on some spoilers while there! BE WARNED SELF!" (yes I'm very strict with my self 😀). I'll spoilmarker it up any way. Again with the sorry and the stupid self.

I don't think you need to worry about it, in the S5 board (I think even any AtS board) anything goes because the show has been off the air so long, its all kinda look at your own risk if you aren't caught up. And you can only edit your posts for 15 minutes after your original post.

Fred hands down. I jus like her better. Angel is not the same without her. Like when Cordelia died, they made up for her with Harm and Spike. With Fred, she was just gone... Illyria isn't a real character! Ok, that didn't make sense, but I just love Fred so much!

It's really hard to choose. Fred was so sweet and loveable and everyone cared for her because she was so sweet and unlike anybody else. I cried during the episode where she died, it was just really sad, even though it was so well-written. Illyria is pretty cool, but I was really resentful towards her at first because of Fred's death, but after a while I started to really like her and nowadays I think it's a tie for me between Fred and Ilyria.

Okay so now that I've finished watching "Angel", my verdit is..........
I love Fred.
I can't believe she's gone.
I can't believe the show ended before Joss could have Willow split Fred and Illyria into two separate bodies. Since the show's off, and we never will see that, then it doesn't exist. It just makes Fred's death more cruel. And oh my, was it cruel. "Why can't I stay ?" "Oh my God STAY STAY STAY I ALLOW YOU TO STAYYYY... or just get out of that TB and stay with me!!"
I kinda like Illyria though. She was pretty cool and had some really, reaaally funny lines : "All the odors in this world of men are equally repugnant to me" being her best line ever according to me. Haa and when she goes all punchy with the red demon that killed Wes.
HOWEVER... No way she can be better than Fred in my heart. Fred is love, Fred is life.

Although, didn't you find it weird when Wesley died and he asked Illyria to "lie to him", I thought it was kinda creepy... Though it's not the first time Wes's love for Fred is creepy (cf. Lilah and the Fred fantasy... OMG I was sooo creeped out). Oh, well.

Illyria, I did love Fred when she was first introduced, she breathed alot of life into the show. But I adore Illyria. She had such an impact for a character that was only in like 7 episodes. She instantly rose in my books to about 2nd place (right after Wesley). I think the biggest waste in the show being canceled was we never got to see more Illyria, she had such a long way to go.

Maybe it's just because we didn't have that much time left to adjust to Illyria (after all, there were not even 10 episodes with her), but I liked Fred way better. It was with her death that Angel the series lost the last bit of innocence and joyfulness. On top of that, everyone we had left in s5 were all these pretty powerful men, Illyria and Harmony and Eve, two very cheap excuses for women. And after there was already this lack of Cordelia, you really got to treasure Fred, and then bang, she was gone and there was Illyria. Know what I mean?

I like both the characters but if i had to pick I'd chose Fred. I had more of a chance to get to know her characters and like her. Illyria was a good character and and interesting plot twist and i think I'd like her equally as much if the series had continued.

I go with Illyria, I just simply adore her character and how she got to know the human world along with Wesley.

Illyria has got to be the worst god since the dawn of time. She arrives shouting about raising armies, and the second she realises her temple's trashed and it aint gonna happen, she asks the bereaved Wesley to sponsor her introduction into human society (erm, but didn't she intend to destroy all humanity 5 minutes earlier?). He AGREES depsite the fact this is the entity which hollowed out his girlfriend, burnt up her soul and has dressed her ex-body in an outfit that looks like it is borrowed from the Ghostbusters wardrobe.

I had to go with Illyria.

To be completely honest I've never liked Fred that much. IMO, she was this Willow wanna be impersonated in the Angel series; for me she was the weak link/character in it and even though I sporadicly enjoyed some of her funny comments and buffy known stuttering she never caught much of my attention at all.

On the other hand, Illyria surprised me, I loved her interaction with Spike and how she, at some level, seemed to care for those "helping" her into this world by retributing this in Fred's manner on certain occasions.

Fred, hands down. I fell in love with the character in Pylea, and she grew so much throughout the show. Her death was probally the hardest ones to watch, and having Illyria take over her body annoyed me. Although Amy did an amazing job as Illyria, she could never replace Fred though, she was so cute :-D

I've never been that great a fan of Angel (the show), but to be honest, the only thing that i found that made it watchable -for me personally- was Fred. Amy Acker is amazing, and i just fell in love with the character instantly. So when i heard about Illyria i was very reluctant to watch, but i did...and she was...ok and Amy did an awesome job with that character also. Fred is my deffinate favourite!! Love her to pieces. Thought that Frillow would have been just too cute!!

I absolutely loved Fred and this one is not even close for me. Illyria was ok and maybe another season would have taken her character in different directions, but she wasn't Fred. I was crushed when they killed Fred off, absolutely crushed.
