Fred or Lilah?

Who should Wesley have ended the series with?

I don't think that because a couple is matched in temperment, ideals, etc., is a guarantee for future happiness. Life is too uncertain to make such a judgement.

I'm only judging Wes/Lilah and Wes/Fred from what I saw on the TV screen. I found myself surprised that Lilah, ironically proved to be a positive influence on Wes. And I thought that Fred's influence on Wes - based upon his reaction to her - was rather negative.

The generalization that any viewer who recognizes the Wes/Fred relationsip as an important one is just an uninformed no-nothing idealizing love is nonsense.

Again, please try to refrain from using the word "nonsense" to describe an opinion that differs from yours.
 
Of course it's no guarantee but they had a much better chance of future happiness than Wes/Lilah.

The reason Lilah had a "good" influence on Wesley is because of the very very dark place he was in at that time. I'm not saying she wasn't good at all for him, in some strange way she was, at that time, but I don't see a future there... at all.
 
And there is something to be said for "loosening up". Lilah helped Wes loosen up in some ways, relax. I'm sure I'll always need help in that area....
 
No unlove for Fred, but I really did prefer Lilah. My taste for badasses, maybe? Wesley was a lot more interesting around her, they had an interesting dynamic. I don't think any relationship they'd ever have would be stable and safe but hey... where would we be without passion, right?

No problem. Stop implying that anyone who's opinion differs from your own lacks the intelligence to understand what they're watching, and I'll stop calling that opinion nonsense.

It's condescending and insulting. It's not the first time you've said it, and I'm not the first one to object to it.

So stop insulting people, or get used to the idea of taking what you dish out.

You want to know why I insult you, nerd4hire? Because you always find a way to insult me, whenever you disagree with something I say. If you stop that, I will stop insulting you.
 
Well, if this is a personal problem, please feel free to PM me, and I promise to work out the problem with you in private like an adult.

For now let's get this thread back on track, shall we.

I also found Wes/Lilah to be higher on the "Interesting" scale than Wes/Fred, but on the other hand there was nothing I really needed resolved in the Wes/Lilah relationship like there was with Wes/Fred, and going by the "interesting" factor alone, for me Illyria/Wes blew Lilah/Wes out of the water, and you can't have Illyria without Fred.
 
I think that Fred was too fragile with Wes, so that's why I chose Lilah.
 
Frankly, I think that Wesley would have been better off with Virginia Bryce. She wasn't such an extreme character like Lilah and Fred.
 
I always liked the Wesley with Fred. It just seemed right with the smart and smart.

Lilah was too evil for Wesley.

Why were they right together? Because they were similar? I think that was the reason they were wrong for each other. They were too similar, yet neither really understood or knew the other. Wesley and Fred seemed to wallow in illusions about each other.

Lilah may have been evil, but she understood Wesley a hell of a lot better than Fred ever did. She was willing to accept Wes for himself, whereas Fred insisted on viewing as some shining white knight. Despite being evil, somehow Lilah managed to empower Wesley. His love for Fred was rather disturbing, and in the end his romance with her destroyed him.

I always liked Fred and Gunn together. They made a better couple IMO then Fred and Wes, and I agree with pretty much everything LadyLavinia said.
I think that when Wes and Fred hooked up, they realised, especially Wes realised, that they were not right for each other and I also found their relationship disturbing. Wes loved Lilah in such an intense way and I believe Lilah loved him back just as much. Fred to me seemed that she felt obligated to be with Wes, and I just felt that the relationship wasn't going work at all.
 
I guess I liked them both. Wesley has grown with Lilah but was not happy, miserable even. He treated her like she was using him or tormenting him but actually he was the one who was using her and tormenting her because Lilah was already in love with him but Wesley didn't just let go; didn't let go of thinking Fred or the gang. Lilah was too much for him and yet too little; he didn't care about the life in general at that time let alone he would care about Lilah. Fred, on the otherhand, I think, was not happy with Gunn. They were not a match for eachother and at the end hurt eachother in extreme. Of course, I like Lilah with Lindsey more and Gunn with Gwen, so, yeah Wesley goes for Fred.
 
I like Fred and Wesley better together than I do Lilah and Wesley. I think Fred and Wesley had a better (though very short) relationship. Wesley's relationship with Lilah seemed unhealthy because even though I thinked they loved each other (in a way), there was too much between them, and they used each other constantly. But I still liked them together a little! Fred and Wesley, on the other hand, were really sweet and happy together, something that they both needed.
 
wes should have been with fred since she broke up with Gunn. They were just too good. Of course wes was kinda dork with women, but that was part of his charm.
