Seems like pretty much the sum of it! I couldn't stand Knox, even before anything happened to Fred. Just his whole.....demeanor....turned me off.

Same here. He pissed me off from the begining!!!
I will jump on the I love Fred train.

She was a good character, and Illyria kicked butt. Fred was great, but that which came after was awesome.

I think the issue of her death, it really affected most of the audience. Because some people saw her as pure, it really hit home. Some were affected, and some have other opinions about the subject.

I was doing the same, I have never cried watching a tv-show as much as I did when Fred died. Man, heartbroken deluxe. =(
 
i agree with you both. especially on that whole thing about seeing her as a pure character. she was just this normal girl from texas, all nice and innocent, thrown into this world of magic. in the end she adapted well and had a backbone and all, but she never lost that purity. i admit, she did do some things (or almost did) that weren't peachy and wonderful, but hey, i never said she was perfect. very pure though. (sorry guys, im even sort of confusing myself in trying to make my point)
 
I liked Fred's character but i did find her annoying at times especially when she could not decide who she wanted Wes or Gunn even though personally she was better suited with Wes.

I thought her character was good and it was sweet that she had this crush on Angel. 🙂
 
Fred was by far my favourite character on Angel. I liked the show from the start, but I never really loved it until Fred came along.
 
I think Fred was good, but Illyria was better, when Illyria's leather look skin took form on Fred's skin I think that Knox appreciated it as well. Both Fred and Illyria brought many variables to the show, much humour ensued. Mind you, good on Wes for shooting Knox.
Illyria's comment about Spike, "I want to keep him, as a pet" ( yeh, yeh, heard that one before )
 
I think I read somewhere that there was eventually going to be a way found to split Illyria and Fred, making two seperate characters, either a double role for Amy, or bringing in a new actor (Illyria was, after all, a god KING, so they might have wanted a man for the part).

You're lookin' for a whole box o' cigars, ain't you? That's very good, I would not have thought of it. I guess the younger generation ain't so bad after all. They did talk about Amy playing it as a double role, as I now recall.
 
What's this about the younger generation ? You need to find a younger person and touch them, then you can say, " I feel a younger person ".
Hmmm maybe that's why I'm divorced, couldn't be because of my sense of humour !?
 
Heck, I ain't got nothin' against the younger generation. I used to be one myself. As for touching one...at my age, that's about all I can still do. As for a sense of humor, my wife loves a good joke. After all, she's let me hang around for the last twenty five years.
 
I adored Fred so much
I remember the first time I saw her die, when they placed Kim Richey's Place Called Home my mum and I were both in floods of tears... I actually learned that song on guitar and now whenever I play it I think "aww man, Fred died" then I get sad again
But at the end of the series, when Wes dies (ever notice how everybody dies?!) it's so heart-wrenching to see Illyria become Fred again, just for his last moments. It's sweet the way they played this, but really sad. It really showed how Illyria was adjusting to emotions and how she didn't like that... maybe she was so hurt by Wes's death coz part of Fred was still in her (we can only hope) and also coz Wes was the one who helped her out when she got there, even though she just killed the woman he loved

Wow... as great as Angel is... it's really depressing! haha

You're right...it IS really depressing. But for some reason I love it way more than "Buffy". Maybe because of the fact that it's dark and depressing. lol. All I know is...deaths on Angel always affected me more than deaths on Buffy.
