Fredless...

I loved everything about this episode. I just got done watching Buffy season 6, so yeah if you can imagine, I needed this LOL!

Anyway, in my 1st watch I was underwhelmed with Fred. I didn't hate her, but I didn't think she was anything spectacular. And so far in this re-watch I haven't been impressed, until this ep. I will contend that I still dislike her accent...the actors that play her parents have better Texas accents (& AA is from texas!). But the scene where she is confronted at the bus station & tells her parents how lost she was...brought tears to my eyes. I think a lot of Fred's Pylea experience is a great metaphor for mental illness, and it reminds me of Tara at the end of Buffy season 5 ("I got so lost").

Everything else was hilarious: the Bangel reenactment; her mother running over the bug with a bus; her mother's comment about the 4th Alien movie, which Joss Whedon wrote! And boy do we need these moments since we all know what's to come later in the season.

I loved- Fred: "So - now that she's alive again, are they gonna get back together?Angel and that girl with the goofy name?"
Wes: "Well - Fred - that's a difficult question." [as in, who are you to say someone else's name is goofy LOL?!]

And this Wes moment: "Lets put it to a vote, shall we? All in favor say aye. Aye. Motion passed. Good. You're staying."

And I have to say, the giant bug demons? Not lame, in contrast to Ms. French's praying mantis demon in Teacher's Pet.

I just saw this episode (watching angel for the first time) and I loved it!!!! I have to say I see a lot of me in fred....just in terms of the spazzy stuff not you know, the sciency stuff. 🙂 Also her answer to angel when he asked how she was, "fizzy, kinda dizzy, a little nauseous, a little hungry...and on and on" and he was like, "well I think that pretty much covers it." yeah, I'm fred!

Also, I loved the wesley/cordy impression of buffy/angel in the beginning, "I love you so much I nearly forgot to brood!"

Oh! Also I wanted to say I really liked gunn's fascination with how the private detective that fred's parents hired traced an envelope with no return address on it.... "no address anywhere on the envelope?" "we could do that"

🙂

Just re-watched this last night, loved it all over again LOL. I think it was in this episode that Wesley started falling in love with Fred.

My kids were in bed when I was watching this last night, but I showed the 7 year old this clip, and he went to school repeating "I love you so much I almost forgot to brood!!".

Lol. That's so cute.
I agree with everyone else, this ep is one of my favs. When I first saw it, I was like no, no, no & had so much anxiety about Fred leaving with her parents even though I knew she would somehow stay. I love Fred & I think this ep is flawless. One of my favs of the season for sure.

Yep! Was a great episode. I thought her parents were gonna turn out evil as well, but it was even better when they just turned out to be what looked like really cool parents haha... And I like the Fred character a lot! I knew there was some character called Fred, but I hadnt even realised it was her I was watching in those initial episodes. And then when I realised she was the new regular chick, I liked her even more because I didnt have to get used to her as you do with new characters, because I already liked her. I'm liking her more and more as I watch the series. I think the fact that they didn't just make another typical female character is kinda cool, she's easy to like and àt never feels like there's too many girls on the show, as Cordy and Fred are so different.
