Fred's parents: What did you think?

What did you think of Fred's parents? They seemed pretty cool - I mean c'mon her Mom ran over a demon, rofl.

At first, I really really thought they were gonna be demons, pretending to be her parents, I have no clue if that's what you were supposed to think or...if I'm just weird 😛

Well anyway, her parents seemed pretty cool, I cried sooo much when they were in the station/airport [Which one was it...?] and Fred was saying about how if she saw them her time in Pylea would be real 🙁

Anyone have opinions on them? :]
 
they were pretty cool, yes. i didn't think they were demons, though lol

i think fredless was a funny ep. the way angel and the gang were trying to hide the whole "we fight demons" thing from her parents. that paper mache head lol 😀
let's say angel is not good with faking 😛

i like them, they were understanding, they really cared about their daughter, they were just the way parents are supposed to be.
When I'm watching angel or buffy i don't really remember the parents, and when angel said "fred has parents?" i was totally like him lol 😀
 
It was supposed to be a double bluff.
Freds parents, we were supposed to believe they had either abused Fred or were responsible for her 'trip' to Pylea.

I liked them, they were 'normal' in the peculiar world of Angel.

I loved their return in Season 5 and that was totally heartbreaking. They'd only had their little girl back for a couple of years and now she'd truly gone...only they don't know.
 
Ah, okay. Weeeell, I've never seen season 5, um, I've been watching Angel on the sci-fi channel, I saw the Pylea episodes, and I'm up to 'Offspring' of season three right now, so I don't know about that 😛

I thought that as well, the first time. Knowing the truth, though, I can see that they're just small towners that are weary/worried. As people, though, I love them. Roger and Trish obviously raised an amazing woman, which is a good measure, but a more impactful one would be that Angel can talk to Roger like they're old friends. The number of people Angel actually gets down on conversing with, and for fun, nonetheless, is a very short list. And Trish seems really genuine and comes off like a real Southern woman, of which I know plenty of good ones, so I know she's down and can get elbows deep in some trouble.
 
It's nice to see someone normal, in a world as weird as the Angelverse. Although, maybe it's just me, but as you get used to Angelverse (and Buffyverse), the strange and peculiar becomes normal, and the normal becomes weird... so I found it very odd originally to realise they were just normal loving parents, when you're half expecting some big twist where they're weird/evil/demony.
 
Ditto about what Hello Cutie said about normal seeming weird. Haha.

But I loved Fred's parents, they were just a couple who wanted their baby girl home, but even after just getting her back after five years, they understood in a sad we-wish-we-didn't way that Angel Investigations was where she needed to be. Actually they realized before her, didn't her Mom say they just hoped Fred wouldn't realize it too?

And her Mom driving a demon down with a bus? One word for that: COOL!!!

They were perfectly normal yet perfectly cool parents. I mean anyone else would freak but they were so very cool with the whole 'Yes my daughter works with a group of people who fight demons and vampires'. No wonder Fred turned out so brilliantly.
 
I agree that they were perfectly wonderful parents.

I think it's a shame Angel & Co. neglected to tell them about their daughter's demise. They deserved to know. Allowing them to believe that Fred lived on and that Illyria did not exist... that was, in my opinion, one of the most morally disappointing things the gang has ever done.
 
I agree about the morally disappointing and they had a right to know and they did originally plan to tell them didn't they? But then Illyria came all Fredded up because she said the pain and sorrow was too great and she couldn't stand it. And I think they didn't bother to tell the Burkles otherwise because after seeing them so happy to see their daughter again, it would have been too terrible to tell them truth.

In a way, it was an act of mercy. Whether it was the right act of mercy or not is another thing entirely.
 
I thought they were crazy!!! Haha. But LOVED them after figuring out they weren't brain eating demons. I mean, come on, who wouldn't want to eat Fred's brains? Their the cream of the crop. HAHAHA.
*TR does not want to eat Fred's brains btw.*
 
Fred's parents were awesome!!!!! I really liked them, and they remind me alot of my parents ( I really doubt my mom would run over a bug demon with a bus thought) lol
 
agree with y'all they were cuties, and great for the mislead of wer meant to think they are bad parents and her saying if she sees them then it was all real was heartbreaking, but they were so cool... id love parents like them
 
I loved them and all but I skill think thay were evil somehow!

what about that "should we call him?" that the mom said to the father? Call who? The evil thing, for sure! lol
