Fred's Role

I understand how everyones lives were manipulated to bring about the birth of Jasmine but I don't see what role Fred played. When Skip was telling the gang everything Jasmine has been responsible for he says Fred's trip to Pylea was one of them but why was she needed?

Fred needed to go to Pylea so that Cordelia would have the vision, which would result in her going.
This would give Cordelia the chance to have everything she thought she wanted, you know the 'Princess' stuff and realise that she wanted more from life, this in turn allowed her to grow to the point where, in Birthday, she became part demon and the rest I hope you can work out for yourself.
 
I'm sure she helped in some way, she shot one of Holtz's men who was about to kill Angel. Also she saved Gunns live at the carousel. She also got with Gunn and sent Wesley into a depression which helped his decision in taking Conner.
