So, I'm thinking of starting up a blog. Some TV show stuff, and movies, and a little bit of fashion. I've signed up to tumblr, but before I get started I wanted to ask all you kind folk if there is anything better out there that you would recommend? I know that there a few people with blogs out there, so would love to hear your advice.

I'd probably be willing to pay a small amount for a blog as well if it means it's going to make my life easier.

(I hope this discussion won't be against the rules, as far as I could see in FAQ it would be okay as it won't be promoting other similar sites. Of course if I'm wrong, please let me know)

I want to have some control over the look of the site, I don't want to have to use set backgrounds etc.

You could use blogspot.com .. mostly every blogger starts there. You have some freedom with the layout, there are some around you can use/edit. 🙂

I use livejournal. I love it, and there's a huge Buffy fandom section, as well as communities for almost anything you can think of - and if there isn't, you can start your own. You get a real sense of community and it's fully customisable. The link to my LJ is in my sig, if you wanted to get an idea of how it looks.

I use wordpress.com I find it very easy to use as I run my own personal blog and a blog on one of my favourite bands. It's got so many useful functions on it and the blog admins are constantly updating to make blogging evne easier.

I'm with Fusions2. Wordpress is really nice and easy to handle and you get a grip on things pretty fast. I'm not a fan of tumblr, to be honest.

I started with blogspot.com. Tumblr is alright, but I like blogger much better.

Wordpress user here too 🙂 And there are many free themes out there you can use too 🙂

I used Webs.com to make my site http://smallvillesuper-boards.webs.com/ and it has good forums and it's free, so you don't have to pay for it. Also, my sister owns http://antitwilight.com/ and she used Word Press, and it's got good forums. So you'll be good be good with both of these sites if you decide to choose one.

I don´t like the Wordpress.com ... I think blogger has better options customizing the layout and stuff.

I´m a Wordpress self-hosted user, but then I pay for the hosting and the domain 😉

I have to admit even though I do like Wordpress.com it's variety in theme's is seriously lacking compared to other sites. I think of it as a place for anyone who's never used blogging sites before. It's made me think of looking elsewhere for my blogs as I really want to change it up and have more to it.
