Freeze Ray!

I'm watching Buffy for the first time after having watched most of Whedon's other works. I was surprised to see a freeze ray in Smashed (s6e3)! They had one in Doctor Horrible too!

Are there any other callouts in other Whedon shows back to Buffy or Angel? I know some Buffy and Angel actors have appeared in multiple Whedon shows.

There are a few in Dollhouse that call to other Whedonverse projects (including some Buffverse).

• Dr. Saunders (Amy Acker) pleads "I wish we had more time!" (to Boyd in "Epitaph One" and "The Hallow Men," IIRC) which is exactly what Fred (also Amy Acker, obv.) says to Wesley as Illyria consumes her.
  
• Can we count making Amy Acker a scientist as part of the Whedonverse?
  
• When Anthony (or Victor, played by Enver Gjokaj) is freed from the Dollhouse in "Stop-loss" he is set up in a hotel called The Hyperion
• They actually use the Hyperion in an exterior shot in "Stage Fright" just before Ballard goes into a basement to get into some Russian trouble.
  
• Not Buffyverse-related, but Whedonverse--Bennett Halverson, played by Summer Glau, plays a super-smart scientist chick and when Echo (Eliza Dushku) sees a photo of her in "Getting Closer" she says "Smarts off the chart. Bet she could kill you with her brain." This is a pretty obvious allusion to her character River Tam in Firefly.

There are probably more, but those are some fun ones I recall! 🙂
