Anya and Spike. They had some funny lines and fed off each other really well.

Giles and Joyce, I'd have liked to have seen more but am unsure how it would have fit.

I always enjoyed Angel/Giles and it made Jennys death that much more devastating.

I would have enjoyed seeing more Connor and Faith too.

@OccaQuokka , what do you think would Cordelia and Anya be clashing or best buddies ? I never noticed how similar Xanders women are.

What about Faith and Anya, would Anya trigger Faith's being rejected/judged button or would grown up Faith beautifully tough love Anya about that chip on her shoulder.

Can Lorne show Andrew how to grow up without changing his don't take it to seriously attitude?

I think Cordy would be snarky towards Anya, and Anya would keep to more obvious insults.

I rekon Faith and Anya could have been friends in different circumstances.

Cordelia and Anya have more in common, well I guess both turning down the wrong path and back again is more in common, it is more like a bad influence on each other, Faith does not need Anya's poo pooing of accountability (they were bad men / they had it coming /they hurt me) Anya is not the type to let any thing go, and is also violent and if she got her feelings hurt might answer with a back-hand, especially since a slayer is tough enough to take it and I think Faith would have something to say about Anya's self pity.

Cordelia might appreciate chatting with a girlfriend who loves shopping like her, listening to Anya insult men, taking her advice and Anya is similarly forthright and appreciates the same, phrasing things brusquely and to the point while Cordy's wily remarks bounce off her because she doesn't care

I feel bad Lorne doesn't have any body to let loose with , always put in to these mentor type roles he can tutelage Andrew who can talk pop culture as much as he can, help him except himself, growing up doesn't mean growing old.

Oh god.... do not want to imagine the damage Lilah/Anya's night out would cause

I enjoy Spike/Giles, because I think these are two men who would get along if they could put aside their 'differences', and not just because they're both British, lol

I've been thinking about this recently and I wonder whether there's more to their Englishness? For instance in LMPTM William refers to Dr Gull. Gull was in the frame for the Jack the Ripper murders (See "From Hell"). Giles, of course, was known as Ripper in his early days. All three (William, Giles and Gull) were members of the upper/upper middle class strata of English society and both Giles and Gull were protected by "secret cults" (the Watchers Council and - allegedly - the Freemasons). Through the Freemasons, there's a link to the Knights Templar (who I always presumed to be a model for the Knights of Byzantium). Carrying it further, a MacGregor (son of Gregor) was responsible for setting up The Hermitic Order of the Golden Dawn. I think the English connection warrants further investigation.

If your "differences" means what I think it means, I wouldn't personally go down that route. It's interesting though that the relationship between Giles and Spike (right at the beginning of Becoming) seems better with Buffy out of the picture. I'd happily go along the road of a paternal friendship between the two. There is a sense in First Date, that Spike replaces Giles (in the same way a husband or lover replaces the Father).

Nice associations... the metaphors of the Watchers Council and Byzantium Knights are clear enough, it makes sense the Watchers Council headquarters would be England I've never doubted that.

I really would've loved more Buffy and Tara friendship. It was slowly built in S6 and I wish we could have seen them interact even more. I think Tara was very good for Buffy and they were similar then we could have taught.
