Friendship after High School.

I went to a tiny highschool, about 16 in my grade and of my close friends, we stayed close friends for a few years, but as time has gone on we've grown apart. I got sick at uni so had to deffer where as now all my mates have graduated and "grown up". I lost alot of mates when I was ill because I was very difficult to deal with. Im still the same silly 16 year old I was and I dont think Im growing up anytime soon 😛

My current group of friends are all alot older than me, so I defo miss being mates with people of the same age group. I would love to catch up again with my highschool friends but they are all over the world and at a different stage in their life to me. Im always the one they can come have a beer with but things like formal dinners and that dont suit me.

On the other hand I do still keep in contact with a few from primary school! Its nice to have friends I have been friends with for 18 or so years!

Things change after high school. In high school you see your friends everrrry day...then when your in college you drift apart a bit, especially if you have a bf/gf. If the person cant balance your friends and the relationship, forget about it lol

I JUST graduated from high school in May...I had a group of friends in high school that were like 7 people...i lost most of them due to relationships they had. Two of them cant balanece they're friends and relationships and so distance themselves from the group. Another one was going out with another person in the group and when they broke up one left the group and one stayed...sucks.

One is away at college...uhmm and now i mostly hang with two of them...but I hang with with my best friend Kristin more.

Life changes and people who say people cant change are BS lol PEOPLE DO CHANGE...for better or for worse.

You grow up and...like I dunno in high school it seems to me people were afraid to tell other people they're true feelings about one another. It's like graduation is a free pass to come out of the closet or to finally tell the person you hate them or love them. Guess it's cause you dont have to go back to the same building you use to have to every week and see the same people who would judge you or something. You graduate and BAM dont have to see that person again...true feelings come out lol

Me and best friends have talked about that...like no matter where we go and what path we choose we still have our friendship🙂

It sucks...i miss seeing the same people everyday and just high school was fun buuut whatever life moves on^.^

I was supposed to spend New Year with my High School close friends. We were supposed to be like 8. In the end of the day, we'll be two. All the others have bailed. That pretty much says it all.
We are mostly not friends. More acquaintances I guess.

1st off all I think that it is so cool that some of us (kristin1105 & Nightcrawler for instance) watch BTVS together...wish I had someone to watch it with!

High school was such a looooong time ago for me (seriously, some of you were not even born yet). I have kept in touch with about 3 people from HS, then got in touch with a few more from FB, although I wouldnt' say I was super-close with any of them. Same thing with college actually. Of course when we all went off to college we drifted apart; in s4, with the exception of Xander, they all attended the same university, & were still in the same hometown. How often does that happen?

The thing I find the hardest is making time for my current friends now that I have kids. With work & all their activities, it's hard to find the time & energy!

There are three people I really keep inm touch with from high school. I'm dating one of them. I'm not sure why the other two are still around. We don't share interests anymore at all. We have almost nothing in common, but I can't imagine my life without them.

I also have a friend that I've known since I was 2. He's not going anywhere. We've lived our lives together. The last 20 years, at least. I can't remember my life before knowing him.

But most of them, we just moved on with our lives. There are some I see every now and again, but most of them I said my goodbyes to at graduation, or before. Some I need to see again, some I wouldn't mind running into, and some I just don't care to see, but that's life. People grow and change, and usually in opposite directions.

I had a huge group of friends in high school. Plus, my twin was in the popular crowd, so everyone knew me because of him. I didn't like a lot of people at my main school. (I went to two.) And I don't have the time or energy to keep in touch with everyone. Facebook helps, but I rarely talk to people on there anyhow. I just like it for the games.

I also wanted to add that I live very far away from where I went to high school or college, so daily contact with those friends is not going to happen.

The thing was that it literally took only a few months for us to lose contact. The reason I find this interesting is that I graduated from college last August, my friends have all gone to various other parts of the world, and we still talk daily. When they come home we maintain our friendships.

It always strikes me as odd that that didn't happen with my secondary school friends.

It doesn't strike me as odd at all. The thing is, you're put together with your highschool classmates because you live in the same city/town/neighbourhood, and you choose a college/uni because of a subject, ergo the people you study with have similar interests to yours and thus the friendships you form are a lot more durable than the ones you form during highschool.

I'm friends with a couple of people I've known for a long time, but at the same time I have lost contact with about 90 per cent of the people I went to school with. I don't necessarily think it's sad, I just think that's what normally happens.

As I am still going through high school I don't have a real comment on what happened to my friendships after high school but I've moved schools a lot and lost touch with so many people of my time. I've only just started high school two years ago and I've already lost some friends there who have moved away or whatever. You would think in these modern days you would still keep in touch with people but you just move on.

I had this really great guy friend and we were like, major close, although we did have some issues at one point. But he left at the end of my first year in high school and we just didn't bother keeping in touch. We moved on with our lives. Now apparently he's coming back so I'm interested to see what happens.

I've also lost a lot of friends from my early school days because I moved school so many times when I was younger. I might have been to about ten different schools in my life which is a sadly high number. I haven't really kept in touch with anybody. I've seen one or two friends from one of my more recent schools again but we don't talk much and one of them is only because my Mum is friends with her Mum.

The Scoobies had a common bond and so they still saw each other. They're lucky. And besides, for them it wasn't moving away...it was just the end of high school.
