Who do you think had the strongest friendship? Who supported each other the most?
 
Angel/Doyle, Angel/Cordelia, Angel/Faith (in the comics this in THE friendship of the Buffyverse, no contest).

Buffy/Willow, Xander/Willow, Giles/Buffy (father/daughter yes, but a lot of their interactions can be seen as freindly banter as well)

One's that were really small but I liked anyway: Xander/Oz, Xander/Riley, Spike/Anya.
 
This big ones for each show are Buffy/Willow, Angel/Doyle/Cordelia. Of course there's more, but those I would say are the primary friendships.

Yeah, those are big and all but I don't think they are a stronger friendship than Cordy and Harmony had. I mean Harmony was an evil vamp- unsouled and unchipped- and her and Cordy's friendship was so strong that Cordy trusted her to stay with her and were doing their nails and drinking. That is a strong friendship in my book. Buffy and Willow, Angel/Doyle/Cordy, they all waivered. But even when Harmony was 'bad' Cordy was still there being her friend.

That's probably me just completely judging Cordy and Harmony's friendship, but to me you need something a bit deeper than doing nails in order for a friendship to be strong. It seems like Cordy/Harmony didn't do much aside from shopping, or doing nails, or gossiping. I know that's true friendship for some people, but it's not exactly my ideal for a great friendship. I doubt Cordy supported Harmony's vampire antics either.
 
Xander and Willow.
Angel, Doyle and Cordelia

Riley and Graham (forget Forrest, Graham is a great friend to Riley; he worried about him even after the Initiative was over, realised the problems in his life before he did and then brought him back into the military when he was feeling lost)
 
For me, Xander/Willow/Buffy is the strongest friendship. I actually feel like they're friends. They're with each other from the beginning, and stick with each other no matter what. I think it's the strongest, most important relationship, including the romances as well. I mean, that relationship basically built the entire Buffyverse!
 
I'm going with Willow/Buffy.

I feel that Xander's relationship with Anya put some distance between him and Willow/Buffy.
The true strength of it was still under the surface, but I think it suffered in the day to day being there for each other.

Xander also judged Buffy very harshly about how she handled relationships and whether or not he was right that put distance between them for awhile.

Willow was way more supportive of Buffy's relationships, and Buffy was right there with Willow as soon as Willow began to address her magic addiction.

In S7, once Anya is no longer Xander's partner, we see a lot of closeness return.
 
I think Xander was closer to Buffy in season 7 than Willow was. And he was also closer to Willow than Buffy was (he went to Tara's grave with her, she was in the hospital with him). Willow/Buffy suffered a little in season 7. And in season 6, Xander showed concern about Willow's magic use far before Buffy, and he was the one who saved her. Xander/Buffy suffered in season 6 because of him being judgemental, but they made up. I would say it's about equal.
 
I think from S7 and on - especially in S8 - Buffy and Xander's bond is so strong. They were way closer than Buffy/Willow. Sadly the Xander/Willow friendship is nonexistent in the comics.
 
I also agree, and I don't really understand the reason for this. I feel like Willow is kind of repeating some of her season 5-7 journey over and over again.
 
Buffy and Willow--they were the best throughout the whole series. They never judged each other (for the most part) and rarely argued. I think the only time they did so was when Willow was going Dark and she was being irresponsible.

Willow and Xander--besties since elementary school.

Angel and Faith--Angel pulled her back from the brink of evil and self destruction.

Xander/Willow friendship is nonexistent since Willow and Tara became a done deal, that's after "Family".

This is why "Grave" doesn't work very deeply for me. It's the reconfirmation and overdraft of their childhood friendship, not the recent one. After "Grave" even the childhood friendship becomes thin.
