A CHARMED fan said this:

"On a personal note, if I were to become one of the most popular actors on the show, i couldn't go on one day and not think about the people I would affect personally....
For one thing, this isn't a movie that you go rent on a saturday afternoon and then return only to be remembered in the back of your head, this isn't also one of those raggedy-ass shows like Buffy (my pardon to the fans) where the personality is absolutely nowhere to be found and the relation of the audience to the cast is about as emotional as putting your hand in an incinerator.... that aside; Charmed is a show where you actually feel like part of the family and where you see the girls evolve throughout the years and you generally feel a connection to the characters."

I would have posted a response, but someone had conveniently closed the thread.

"...the personality is absolutely nowhere..."

Let me say, WTF!

I've found the characters on Charmed to be one dimensional and it seems the only evolution these girls have had are tied to their relationships. And that is not empowering to the women folk.

Buffy and the gang are completely different people at the end of the series, who have gone through such life changing events. How is there no personality there?

I could rant a lot more, but I just find Charmed to be too corny for my tastes.

And I can't imagine comparing Buffy, a critically and academically praised show, to Charmed, with their constantly recycled plots and their overall lame-ness.

Man...I wish that numbskull would try posting that nonsense here. I would rip such a strip off her. (In a nice way of course. 😀)

Is it just me, or did you get scary? :) Agreed of course!
Okay, as a fan of both shows, I think that the problem is that people always feel "their show" is better than others. So, not being a fan of Buffy, they wouldn't know how the personalities really compare.

I like it to me trying to compare Buffy and, say, The OC to OC fans...

I think the Charmed ladies are nice and all, they're characters may not be the most deep ones ever but yeah I can feel a bit towards them, especially when Prue died. But I think what he/she said was a bit extreme.

Both programs you can connect with the characters because of their personalities, in buffy though this is even more true!!!! did that make sense?

Look, even I enjoy CHARMED sometimes (especially the show's Season 1-4 period), and some of their episodes have been quite excellent (especially during Season 3). But I have to admit that as far as writing and acting is concerned, both BUFFY and ANGEL are much superior. All you have to do is watch all three shows and compare.

I'm a fan of Charmed and Buffy and Angel. I also feel the by far Buffy and Angel are superior. Whoever said that about Buffy obviously doesn't have good taste in shows 😛 😉
But then again I'm kind of being a hypocrit (lol is that the right word? I can't think 😛) here, as I would say the same thing about shows such as "The Mountain" (The mountain fans, dont hurt me!). But I cannot stand that show. It's terrible IMO.
But I guess all this is just another one of those lovely examples of 'opinions'. 🙂

I am a huge fan of Charmed, but if I had to pick I would choose Buffy and Angel as like eveyone says the shows go deeper than that of Charmed.

I feel that Buffy is about growing and excepting yourself and others.

Whereas I think Charmed is about family, sisterly bonds and shows a good incite to Wicca which is growing ever so popular.

I hope some of my points made sense as I suck at describing things.

I hope I am not going off topic here, but Buffy Summers how would you compare Buffy and O.C?

I've been a fan of Charmed (season 1-4) but I think that after that Charmed didn't quite have the same touch.

Charmed is more about family relations (before, now it's more like Piper/Leo and their kids but whatever) but the character doesn't really have any deepness in it all. It notice that it's suitable for like kids in their 8 years old and Buffy and Angel developed more and more, for an older audience and the teenagers. Charmed is a family show (in my point of view really similar to a bad Disney movie) while Buffy and Angel are more of I dont know... well... I hope someone gets what I'm trying to say 😉

I used to enjoy the Prue seasons, and I recently started watching it again, because of conversations about the new season on these boards. I kind of liked the last two episodes.

But TheChosenOne, seriously; "shows a good incite to Wicca"? Are you serious? Personally, I think it gives about as much incite into actual Wiccan beliefs as Sponge Bob Squarepants does into Marine Biology.

Buffy was more on the point about Wicca, especially with Willow's lessons in the beginning of the seventh season..about the earth being connected and such.

Charmed's take on Wicca rates right up there with Sabrina and Bewitched 😀

Meh - one could say the exact same thing about Charmed....to each their own I guess! 🙂

Personally I have been trying to get into Charmed..I have watched from S1 - S3, every day at 7 pm on Showcase Diva. I like it, and make an effort to watch it...but it by no means affects me the way Buffy and Angel do. I really think it will be a looooong time before a show ever gets to me like those two did. If ever.

Come on, people. It's just a difference of opinion. Not everyone is into the same stuff. This person is obviously just as obsessed with Charmed as we are with Buffy and Angel. Don't take it personally, it's just someone's view on things. Nothing big.
