Fury, Gordon and 24 * SPOILERS *

So I tuned in for the special 2 hour back to back premiere of 24 last night. I was watching the credits, and saw David Fury's name. "Oh yeah, he's doing that now", I recalled to myself.

That makes two Mutant Enemy Alumn working on 24 - David Fury and Howard Gordon.

Man, that premiere was good last night. If it continues at that pace this could be the best season of 24 ever. There's another 2 hour back to back thing on tonight.

Oh yeah, and not that it matters, but D B Woodside (Principal Wood) is also in it. He was pretty likeable last night too.
 
I don't know what to say, without spoiling, but it was super fun. I like Chloe out in the field, but I like arrogant, annoyed computer Chloe too. Jack was his badass self as usual...
 
24's premiered in the US!

Anyone know when it starts in the UK!?

Good to know D.B woodsides reprising his role as the presidents brother! And thanks for letting us know that David Fury is part of this season! I am definately not gonna miss this!

TV fans hit the roof when local newscast begins before show ends

...FOX has been promoting the show's two-part, two-hour season premiere for weeks. It was scheduled to start at 8 p.m., after the conclusion of the NFL playoff game between the Carolina Panthers and the Chicago Bears.

The game went long, pushing the start of "24" back about 10 minutes "” and ideally pushing back the start of the newscast...


...Paul Teeple, 43, of Columbia, hadn't missed a second of "24" from the start "” even from 2001 to 2003, while working in Nicaragua for his employer, an international development nonprofit organization. He had friends record it for him.

"I'm mad, I'm upset, and I'm having a hard time rationalizing this," he said. "This is the one TV show you wait for and wait for, and there's always a cliffhanger "” but this is too much....


...After WACH's 35-minute newscast "” which did not acknowledge the loss of the last 10 minutes of "24" "” the station aired a 30-minute infomercial for a diet book, "The Omega 3 Miracle."

But the coup de grace for "24" fans came next, when WACH broadcast a rerun of a Season 1 episode of "” you guessed it â” "24."

US guys - I'm sure you won't but please don't post any 24 spoilers without due notice 🙂 - we're a few weeks away from the season premiere in the UK and I want to try to stay spoiler free...
 
Ohhh man, i'm so stoked about this frikkin season......We dont get it till February(Sky One.....pish....lol).....Man, i've heard so many rumours, but i dont care....i need the show.
Its one of my absolute faves.......Chloe is my fave character, she is just so great.....and i find her sexy.....sue me....lol....
The Presidents Brother.....OK, Woodside is NO substitute for Hayberts' Palmer character, but i will deal(I prefer him in this then as Wood).....
My ideal listings would be
Jack
Palmer
Tony
Chloe
Sherri
and a few others, and granted thats season 3's lot....but they were my fave characters.


Oh man oh man oh man.........i could discuss this show for like ever......

jeez, i may need a life!
 
Season five of 24 premieres here in the UK on Sunday, February 12th and it will be a double episode to kick of the season, same as in the States.

I've seen the first ten minutes of episode one so i REALLY can't wait to see what happens next, lol!
 
I'm having fun playing spot the Whedon connection.

So far I've seen Gordon, Fury, Principal Wood, Cassie Newton's father, and Sean Astin who directed an Angel episode. I think it was Soulless, or Soul Purpose or some name like that.

Forgot about the Astin connection, that's cool. I'm glad he's involved with 24, I think, heh. We'll see how things turn out.

The way he's described his 24 involvement, it almost sounds like blind luck, Hollywood serendipity.
 
I've seen 4 episodes of this current season now. 24 has sky-rocketed up my personal top 10 list from about #10 to #1. I would watch this now no matter what was on opposite it.
 
After having seen those first few minutes of episode one i've been desperately trying to avoid any spoilers regarding anything later on in the episode or, worse yet, the series. I'm looking forward to watching it on Sky One far too much to watch anything further on here and i definately don't want any surprises ruined.

24 has always been pretty high on my list of favourite shows. Not sure it has ever reached number one but it's been close at times.

I skipped over the Golden Globes for it, heh. Award shows are so tiresome now anyways. But yeah, looks like it'll be awesome this time round. 24 and Lost are my must-see-tv
 
David Fury wrote the fifth episode of this season, which airs tonight, January 30th. Also, Jeff Kober, who played Zachary Kralik and Rack on Buffy, played Haas the assasin in the first episode of 24's fifth season premiere.
 
I watched it last night. It was really good. You know how 24 can feel a little choppy sometimes with stuff like transitions in out of the soap stuff? This one felt a little smoother to me.
 
The "relationships" component always does seem to be the most forced, disruptive element in the show.

Also, they seem to have long ago abandoned showing Jack eating on screen. He must be famished by the end of each season (or he grabs a bite off screen).

there is rumoured to be an outtake showing Jack emerging from a toilet having had a quick nap, eating a burger;)
Oh wow, 24 is coming to be regarded chez Pointy as the best TV ever made...Wooh hoo! The hobbit saved Jack tonight...feeling slightly guilty as a liberal, pacifist for cheering every time Jack blows away a bad bugger....but what a bloody brilliant show...all the Mutant Enemy alumns and I noticed at least one of tonight's eps was written by Manny Coto, who did his utmost to save ST:Enterprise...
 
Tell me about it.
I've loved this show from the moment i sawit, but these last 4 hours have been themost gripping episodes i've seen. I wouldnt like to spoil anything so i'll stay away from specifics but my gosh the first two major incidents and lossoflife i was beyond shocked, then with how fast Jack is back.....cool

Ohh and i still Love Chloe and want Spenser to DIE.
 
I don't think it's spoiling you though, to suggest they can't stay at that pace forever. I think you'll find it slows down soon. Patience though. It picks up again.

And do terrorists have a red phone like heads of state, or something, allowing them easy access to the president?

The roof deal is a head-scratcher, lol.

I can't recall for sure, but the Wikipedia season 5 summary says the Julian Sands terrorist dude called into the Whitehouse using Walt Cummings phone number? I guess Mike Novick answered Walt's cel...passed it to President Spineless Wease"”I mean President Logan.
