Guess House Stark really swept up at the Game of Thrones Brothel & Casino. 🎲 🏆🏅Let's recap shall we...
Bran the Three Eyed Ravenclaw is the leader of the Seven Six Realms, Sansa is Queen of the North, Jon still knows nothing, but is (kind of sort of) King of the real North, and Arya's exploring the seven hells seas. Not bad for a House that, only a few seasons ago, was on the verge of extinction! Not too mention that Westeros just became a Republic of sorts. 🍷

I am going to be so mad when Bran becomes king. Seriously. That is the dumbest way to end the show. Bran?

Well I guess you must be mad now.
I don't want to hate on this episode, it wasn't bad but a bit let down. Especially, since it jumped like 2 weeks ahead in time. Ugh. I hate time jumps. Mostly because I think it proves that this season was rushed.

Spoiler: What I loved

BUT I will focus on what I liked/loved. That shot of Dany with Drogon's wings behind her, super sweet and chilling.
When Drogon melted the Iron Throne. I kind of predicted that earlier in the season, so I was totally excited when it happened.
Not surprised when Jon stabbed Dany, but also I was on the edge of my seat cause I wasn't sure if he was actually going to do it, or if Dany was going to kill John.
Also, I wanted Drogon to burn Jon and then Jon not be touched by it, that would have been cool.
I loved when Uncle Tully stood up, and Sansa was like "please, sit" that was funny.
Also, wtf with Robin? Is it just me or did Robin become handsome and dashing looking. I was like "huh?" This is the same kid? Totally threw me off.
I will say I'm disappointed that they teased Bran might worg into the dragon and then we didn't get to see it.
The fact that Sam and maester someone wrote a literal book titled "A Song of Ice and Fire" was too meta for me.

So, not sure how I feel yet about the finale. I just know that this season was a bit disappointing. I am super excited to rewatch the entire series again, and then maybe my opinion about season 8 and the finale might change.

Well the episode was crap. Pretty much all the show has been since later S4.

St. Tyrion the great will never pay for his crimes and all the bodies in his wake. Grade A moron who gets a third shot at hand even. And who gets to nominate a King while being on trial for his crimes? I can't even...

King Bran, or rather 3 Eyed Raven, the greatest game player of all. Millions died for it and he knew it. His smug face in the face of all the death he caused to become King was appalling. So Westeros continues it's tradition of horrible rulers.

Bronn gets High Garden and a council seat. I can't stop laughing at that nonsense.

Gendry still gets the Stormlands despite barely being able to hold a fork and no way to prove he's actually a Baratheon (3ER does not count). Give me a break.

Yara already had independence but is now fine with being under the rule of the throne again? Yeah right.

The North is granted independence to a Stark by a 'Stark' and everyone else just accepts it while not asking for their own independence. Oh for ****s sake. This is just too stupid.

Brienne becoming KG is fine. But they had to have her write down how awesome the guy is who slept with her then left her to go back to his evil sister and help her. Jesus.

Urgh I don't want to continue writing more. This is all too stupid for me to comprehend.

Yay for the end 😀 It was all wrapped up in a neat little bow which I wasn't sure would happen. I read an article in the paper this morning saying there are people who will have genuine psychological distress from this series ending. I have genuine happiness. Good story, glad it is done.

Dany was so happy I almost wanted her to live. Her dragon wings moment reminded me of this -

and I lolled.

I wanted Tyrion to be eaten by the dragon. Brieanne stuff was terrible, like truly terrible. I am disappointed she lived past the war at winterfell. I used to like her character but that ending just ruined her for me. I really expected more deaths. I pretty much checked out after Jon stabbed Dany. It was a real Bangel moment 😀 I am glad it was Jon and not Arya to kill Dany. Sweet how the big monster carried off his mummy. I didnt really care who got the throne after it was melted haha. I thought it would be Bran as soon as I saw the meeting in the tent. I just stopped caring. Seemed they had too much time to fill with boring talk. I bet there will be a call for an Arya spin off from some fans now? I liked that Jon got sent back to the wall and Ghost (?) cuddles at the end too aww. Best ep of the season was still ep 5, that was really great and I couldnt have asked for more as someone semi interested. Ta for the ride writers 😀

That was actually the worst series finale I have ever seen. Probably the worst final season I have ever seeen. And I mean from a show that had previously been of good quality. Dexter and True Blood would be the others that come close but good lord was that bad.

Pretty much. I assume he will find a way during his run as King to bend the rules so that instead of voting for the next King, the 6 Kingdoms just accept the next 3ER. The Children of the Forest won in the end and took back their land. Genius.

He is Skynet lol. And no he's not safe for humanity (the Terminators weren't) since it's not Bran, it's the 3ER. 3ER is an instrument of the Children of the Forest. 3ER has been controlling events and moving chess pieces for thousands of years to get to this point, sacrificing millions of people in the process. It's too sad that all the characters on this show are too dumb to get that the 3ER clearly knows the future (why do you think I came down here?) and that he let all that destruction happen. From the fall of the Wall to the burning of KL. He's going to wreck more havoc on Westeros if need be, if it ever appears as if humans might take back the land again from the Children by eliminating him.

They vote for the next person they want to be assimilated, so in theory they are voting for the king. Sorta.

I still don't know how I feel about the finale. It's a mixed bag for sure but it left me feeling empty, not in a good way, more of a bored "that doesn't make sense" way.

So far, I've been able to come up with one conclusion to all of this : the last 2 seasons should have been 3 seasons of 10 episodes. This felt rushed, the buildup of previous seasons wasn't fulfilled and what they came up with didn't really feel earned.

I think they were on the right path they just didnt follow through. The whole Sam and the book thing should have played out differently. Showed have shown him as an old man, closing the book, and someone (a grandchild?) asks him did it really happen that way. And him make some comment about sometimes things maybe happened a little different.

I mean, if they wanted to nod to the book readers, they should have nodded to the book readers and say yeah, we left shit out.

Yea I kept thinking, why are they listening to him, and asking him what he thinks. I like Tyrion, but at this point he is a man that has failed at being Hand of the King twice, betrayed Dany, and conspired against her, and is locked away for those crimes, and they're just going to listen to him. I just don't get it. And apparently that was the payoff for Tyrion's talk with Bran.

I rolled my eyes. Bronn just gets away with threatening to kill Tyrion at crossbow and Jaime, and he still gets his castle. That's a part of why I hate the time jumps. Because they could have spent an episode putting all of these pieces of the council in place.

That's true, I almsot expected her to stand up after Sansa and demand independence.

Ugh, I was just happy that she didn't end up pregnant with Jaime's kid. I was very concerned that they would reveal her big belly. I would have hated that. I almost wish that Brienne maybe would have died protecting Arya and Sansa fulfilling her oath.

I don't know about 3 seasons, but seasons 7 & 8 should have been 10 episodes long. They were definitely rushed. And I loved season 7 but with what they did with season 8, looking back it was still rushed if this is the ending they were planning the whole time.

I wouldn't say that Tyrion failed at being the hand twice. I think the first time he was quite successful.

Minority of one but I loved it. We've seen a whole chapter of this world wrap up and move forward a little bit but still know that things will change again after this period of stability.

Tyrion finally saw the light and admitted is desperation to believe in something better had clouded is judgement. The writers are clearly huge Buffy fans as they managed to get the climax of Season 8 and then Season 2 into the Jon and Dany scene. I was glad Jon made the right decision but heartbroken for him and Drogon.

I'm happy they've taken a baby step toward abolishing the monarchy. Closer than my country have got and they haven't even discovered electricity.

Huh. Well, I sorta guessed that Bran would get the throne but I thought it would be by process of elimination rather than by council vote. Lambs to the bloody slaughter.

I did like Jon's sacrifice and eventual fate; very emotional.

And Tyrion's reasoning about Dany was very sound; she did awful things to awful people and was celebrated for it. But they were still awful things. And so she began to think that she could do no wrong. You could take her reasoning to be an allegory any poisonous philosophy you don't like; from colonialism to communism.

I wanted Grey Worm to die hard, he was so vicious at the end. I hope he gets a horrible crotch-infection in those sunnier climes.

Not really. I think they guaranteed a pod-person overlord for all eternity. Somebody who can see any rival, any assassin, and threat to their reign before it comes to be and stop it.
The king is dead. Long live the king. Forever and ever.
