Thanks guys
🙂 It is a very peaceful place. Larger than I needed to be honest. The Orchid part is still hibernating, I will put some chook poo out over the trees when it warms up a bit. It is a lot of work but I enjoy it. The hard part is not doing too much, because I feel it later. The weeds are also in full bloom
😛 I am not keen to use poison so I just rip them out as I go.
Care to share the sunflowers (and bees tending to them?)
@nightshade? I'd love to see plants from other posters too - the colours are so vibrant compared to Oz. Its a proper red dirt place here. I have little bit of grass coming up, but I dont want it to stick around, screw mowing haha. The oat grass feed the buns, but I will try and restrict it a bit. Lots of moss around right now too, which is kinda cool for me, its been too warm in my previous homes. I dont mind the dirt but Im not sure how harsh it gets in summer yet. I moved here in March/April and it was all grey dirt - the bulbs were a lovely surprise. Its nice for it all to be established for me - I have changed and planted quite a bit already though. I want to put in a water tank next year so I have a bit more water to use over summer (there is a full watering ban in place right now and over summer we are restricted to 2 days of 10 minutes)
I have planted some seeds in the last few days, Sage, Oregano, capsicum. My Peppermint should have come up by now so I suspect it died in the frost. My potatoes are growing which was another surprise! They are in a large pot and may need repositioning now. Im just not really sure how to grow them, I never have before. Broccoli will be ready soon. My cauliflower is being eaten by slugs, but not destroyed. I'll figure out something for them - maybe try the beer trick out there. My Kale needs a rest from me (and the moths) eating it. The spinach is ready to go in dinner tonight, otherwise the bugs will get that too. Speaking of bugs - they are out in force the last few days, the temp has been over 12C and they love it. I found a slater bug in my bed...
It is spring in a few days down under, I am annoyed my car is not on the road cos I cant get new seedlings. I am going to a produce swap in 3 weeks, so I might be able to pick up some new foods to grow there. The problem is the rain and watering, the winter rain came late this year, so it might continue through october but I had planned to get my summer foods in this week. My radish seems ready to pick now, I prefer the taste when they were babies, I may have left them in too long. My Leek and carrots have only just taken, I planted them at the wrong time so Im thankful I didnt kill them all.
I got more pics, but then uploaded them to the computer instead of imgur, so will have to go and try that again. What a chore
🙄
