GASP! Will good TV couples ever survive?!?!?!

sorry guys, most of you could probally care less about daytime TV, but you DO care about other couples on other shows. I can tell because you care about the relationships on Buffy.

Everyone has their Fav and in almost every love story comes the tradegy in that they dont stay together or they get written off or what have you. Or even worse they get recasted and then the couple you love isnt the same half the time.

Well that is the case with one of my favorite Daytime couples. I gave up on Guiding Light when they kept killing off my favorite couples or had them leave town and eventually just stopped watching. I saw no point once they killed off my favorite couple (Jonathan and Tammy) but I still watch the vids on you tube 🙂

Now Days has done the same...for years I have held out hope that Shawn and Belle would be together again...then they recasted Shawn and the pairing was well not too desirable. And NOW they have written both the characters off the show 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

I know I know many of you are like "oh my gosh this chick is pathetic" but whatever. I am upset about it...

so anyway sense I am stuck thinking about all my fav couples and the fact that they never last on any show I figured I would ask who everyone else's favorites where?...why? (share your favorite moment) and how they eventually met their demise of a couple?...this is in any TV show or movie but they ultimately can not end up together...share away...thanks.

IS my VCR broken or are you reading a magazine? Shawn and Belle LOOK like they're still here.
All in all, I'd rather them go "off" somewhere and come back when they can cast a more "clickable" pair. I will miss Belle though. She's a good one!

Well, I'm in love with Instant Star, and my favorite couple on there was Jude and Speiderman. I was so upset when Juderman broke up! Even though there still friends, I want them back together! Speiderman does NOT belong with Karma!

They wrote off Shawn and Belle? What's with soaps writing off/killing off legacy characters lately? I haven't watched Days in years, but I remember when Shawn and Belle were born! It seems wrong to write off Shawn and Belle (but not as wrong as it was for GH to kill off Alan, Emily, AND Georgie).

Having TV couples go up and down and up and down is so old. Couldn't they have a good couple together permanently? There are LOTS of storylines they could give the couples to give them something to do, sheesh. Television would have you think there's no way you'll EVER find someone you can be happy with for the long haul.

Or they could at least not have the couples break up every time they argue about something.

Dustins Days page reported it in the Comings and Goings section. And Martha Madison confirmed it on her board 🙁 they only have a few weeks of recording time left and will reportdly be gone of of our television screens late Fabuary or Early March.

They were qoute told that they were "released from their contracts" and advised to find other work.

If you want links I can provide them. So sad...oh but they are bringing in some girl from GH to play on the show and Lexie will be returning as well. Oh and I dont know who they cast but we will be given a Colleen Brady, and she wont be played by Alison Sweeney either. BOOOOOOOOOO 🙁 🙁 🙁

I heard Tamara Braun (ex-Carly #2, GH) was going to Days. If that's the case, you're in for a treat. check out "Tams" in one of her most memorable scenes: YouTube - General Hospital - Carly learns of Michael's Death. She wasn't quote as good in the role of Carly as Sarah Brown was, but she grew into the role and was a really convincing actress. By the time she left, I loved her as Carly. I think she'll be a good addition to Days.

What do you think happened to Anya and Xander!!! :cry: But it seems the norm in every show that the couples who are together end up breaking up or cheating, or fighting or something. They can't be happy :cry: They never can be happy :cry: People say it's good tv ::huh1:: Not me.

Honestly there are some couples that do last... since we're on the subject of days of our lives... look at Bo and Hope... for crying out loud they've been together since well always (ok not really but you know) they split up but always come back together...

Its just like every day couples... you have fights, you break up, you make up... you divorce and get remarried... its to keep the show thriving and you wanting more and more... Its how they draw you in

That's one of the problem that plagues soaps: in the race to please the 18-49 folks,they're forgetting to cater to ALL audiences. (I mean,how do you think soaps get new viewers? It gets passed down from generation to generation. And if you cheese off this generation,good luck having soaps as we know them live on.) If a soap manages to make use of all the characters on the canvas-of all ages,not just the young-uns-a soap will do well,ratings-wise.

Re the Days changes: That news I haven't heard...yet. But,knowing Tamara Braun's rep,she might very well be a good add to Days.

I don't watch Days but I want my JaSam renunion on GH 🙁 So much has happened now though and I don't think it could ever be like it was...

I can think of a couple that wasn't doomed though! What about Piper and Leo from Charmed? The whole 8 years and beyond that! Outstanding work for them! Couples are lucky to make it 5 years!

I know! Wasn't it neat to see JaSam and LnL2 interact when Joe came in with that bomb? That's how the world is supposed to be... before the summer of sleaze catapulted us all into this bizarro land in which Jason threatens to kill Sam and in which Lucky is the new AJ.

I mean, good lord, we waited 6 years for them to get together, and when they finally did, they were happy for a few months then Sarah has a nervous breakdown and ditches! What's up with that?

As for the "good TV" thing, I think writers are afraid of letting the show get boring, and let's face it, happy people are boring. We're much more interested in people's suffering than their happiness. Why do you think the news is so depressing? If I wrote a book about a person who always got what they wanted and went around whistling all the time, nobody would read it. It's conflict, suffering, unhappiness that keeps a story going, not contentedness. That's why the story always ENDS when people get what they want and are happy.

Angels baby101 agrees: I believe i read a few places it was because the actress wanted way more money and they couldn't/wouldn't give it to her so she left...

Actually, she apparently Jorja Fox thought that her character was becoming two-dimensional, never interacting with anyone except Grissom. And she was very upset about what happened to her at the end of last season (almost didn't show up for shooting cause she thought they were going to kill Sarah). What annoys me about that is that she KNEW that Sarah was a love interest for Grissom when she first signed on. That was the whole point of the character. Then when it happens, she gets annoyed and leaves.

Grump.

Actually, I'm pretty damn HAPPY they broke up. I couldn't continue watching CSI because of Grissom hooking up with Sara. It's so EEW and completely wrong. Also, beardless Grissom? No thanks! I'm thinking Sara had a nervous breakdown because of Griss, that guy is just weird and should not be together with anyone except his bugs.

Also, I recent that the whole point of the character is to be Grissom's love interest! One because, eew, and two because Sara is so much more than just that. She provides much needed sarcasm and weird sideway glaces at people, awkward flirting with everyone and the inability to connect with people on any other leaven than strictly proffesional!
