Do you think that its about time the writers reveal whether or not Andrew is gay? I mean Tom Lenk came out the closet a few months ago, and they have lesbian action going on with Buffy/Satsu and Willow/Kennedy, so why not some guy action. Afterall according to Season 6 or 7 as far as we know Andrew is still a virgin so its about time he hooked up with somebody. Does Joss not have a problem with lesbians but not want to add gays? He could have a one night stand with Xander, HAHAHAHA lol

No, I don't think Joss has a problem at all with male homosexuality. I remember reading that before it was decided that Willow would be the gay character, that he couldn't decide whether it would be Willow or Xander. I just think the powers that be (heh) pressured him into making the female the gay character. Like so many other shows/movies.

But I have no doubt that Andrew is gay.

Andrew is so in love with Spike.
Yep. Andrew does have quite a crush in Spike...*giggles
It's cute.

He may have a crush on Spike, but he's got the flaming hots for Xander. They're literally a match made in (Sunny)hell.
I just think Joss is wary of going too gay with the whole thing. The whole series is filled with gay jokes (the funny kind, not the bad ones), you had the whole Xander set up, then Larry, then Vamp!Willow, then Willow and Tara, then Langel (I will not give up!), then Andrew, the the stuff in Season 8... It can all get a bit much. Don't get me wrong - there is nothing wrong with a "gay" series, but I really don't think that's the perception Joss wants for Buffy. They are, after all, inherently exclusive. There's no real reason for Buffy to go down that road. Another gay storyline might just tip the balance.

An explicit reference, however, that is thrown in before moving on might work.

Yeah, people always freak and and say why are there not any male-gay relationships, but I feel like that would be pushing it. Andrew's gay, I don't think he needs to come out I think we all no. Actually, I think he's bi. He seems to have a thing for some girls. Like Lorne, I think he's bi.

Wasn't he in the middle of strip poker with the Slayers in one of the season 8 issues? That didn't look very gay to me. But who knows? Maybe he is bi.

Really is rather rude to make judgements on people you don't know, especially when they have been somewhere for quite some time

I sometimes feel like Joss obsesses over the experimentation thing. It's kind of annoying. Like he's always trying to reassure it. It makes me think that he went buck wild with it or something, haha.

The joke was, though, that he was completely disinterested in the fact that he was surrounded by sexy half-naked Slayers. It was like the gag in season 7 when he's got his camcorder and is admiring the craftsmanship on the new windows Xander installed, oblivious to the fact that Willow and Kennedy are going at it hot and heavy on the sofa right in front of him.

Regardless of what his sexual orientation actually is, I always felt that Tom played Andrew as someone who either was gay and was reluctant to try to establish a relationship in Season 7 because of the way Warren took advantage of him the year before, or as someone who had "these feelings," but just didn't really know what they meant. Besides, who was he supposed to hook up with in Season 7? Xander was still with Anya, whether either of them wanted to admit it or not, and Spike was obviously in the process of forming something mutually beneficial with Buffy. That only left, dare I say it, Giles (of course, that could have led to Andrew's "Watcher Apprentice" role in Season 5 of "Angel.") or Wood, who came on the scene later in the season and was quite obviously fixated on anyone with the title "The Vampire Slayer" after their name.

The more that I think about it, Giles just might actually have been the man for Andrew. There was always the hint that there might have been something between Giles and Ethan Rayne in their younger days. Maybe Giles is the one who's bi.

^^ Blasphemy! Not that Giles may be bi, (cuz yeah, I felt the vibe with Ethan, too) but that he might ever be with Andrew.

*Palabra makes Buffy's "Bleh" face.*

Thou shalt not sully my Giles in that way! He is waaay to good for panicky, nerdy little Andrew (hmm... which might mean that he is way too good for panicky, nerdy little Palabra, as well).

Seriously, though... I think Andrew's sexuality is not being explored for the same reasons for which I think Cordelia's first time was never explicitly stated: 1.) It's not relevant to the plot and 2.) Andrew is not one of the core characters. I don't think it's necessary to give him a love interest.
