I can promise you, no seisures have been had on this side.
However, as I then went on to add, I have nothing better to do.

I must also point out having a seisure wouldn't really help continue this conversation.

I agree with Randy Giles (^) that Andrew is too innocent to be in a relationship with anyone. Too immature too. He is a guy who would rather be playing with his action figures and watching Red Dwarf and Dr. Who than 'free cable porn' or getting 'chicks, chicks, chicks' with his super villainry. He is a guy who is influenced by two things - the people around him and popular culture. The sexual ambiguity makes his charater more believable.

Too bad he killed Jonathan. They would have been perfect. I guess it's true, you always hurt the one's you love... Although, I don't know how well the relationship would have worked out with Jonathan being straight.

Andrew is definitely gay or bi. I think we all agree on that here. He totally had a crush on Spike, there was definitely a connection with Xander and I don't think I need to say anything about Warren, right? lol
But I always thought Andrew's gay comments were really funny.

Like in Entropy when they're watching Anya and Spike:
"He is so cool... And, I mean, the girl is hot."

Or in Seeing Red when he's talking to Jonathan about Warren:
"How could he do this to me? He promised we'd be together, but he was just using me. He never really loved... hanging out with us."

I think the reason he's never come out is that it doesn't really matter. It's not really a plot point, his sexuality is really just a part of the background, and having him come out would make it a BFD which it isn't. Plenty of people are gay without making a production out of it... which sounds like a snark, I suspect, but it isn't intended that way. I just feel like giving a lot of attention to the coming out part of being gay makes it seem more like a defining aspect of a person than it is.

I'm probably explaining my perspective really badly. And yet, I'm gonna post anyhow.

Oh, and technically, the "your"/"you're" issue is one of usage, not spelling. The word was spelled correctly, it was just the wrong word.

like we need any more gay characters in the Buffyverse? I realize this stance puts me in the firing line for most the members on this board but with 50% of the original scoobies now gay(ish) its getting a bit too hollywood for my liking.

As for andrew, hes gay, quite clearly, i dont think its needed for our intelligence to be questioned with a direct quote.

I agree. You want to keep things fairly realistic - if the show is completely swamped with gay characters then you lose that.

Andrew is fine just the way he is. I'd rather he stay a big question mark than slap a label on him. Besides how many gay people are they gonna add to BtVS? I'm not against homosexuality but let's not over do it please.
 
Also, yes I think he is bisexual, but what I don't understand (even about real life) is why people have to come out. I didn't come out as straight. Nobody comes out as straight. If you are gay you're gay! If you are bi, you're bi! If you are straight, you're straight! Whats with all this coming out crap. It's like you have to justify and tell everyone you are gay. Just be gay! Andrew doesn't need to come out, it really matters what the character wants/who he likes. So i'm glad they didn't just say he was one thing.

I came out to my family and close friends so they'd quit making the assumpting I was straight.
I just like it the way it is, he never came out but we know he likes guys to some extend and maybe girls, who knows. I just think it should be left to that. No needs to say more and he is just a secondary character. Since when do we see a secondary character have a serious relation or sex in an episode. Unless it would be with a main character of course. But then it means that he would have to sleep with Buffy, Xander, Willow, Giles or someone like that and that would be way to weird so yes

single,gay/bi, no comming out Andrew= ok

While I wish we lived in a world where this was the case, we don't.

There is still a social stigma associated to being gay and in some communities it takes alot for someone to admit to the people close to them that they are gay.
That is why 'coming out' can be a big deal.

I have worked with some kids (14+) that are actually scared of admitting to their loved ones about something that is so important to them, and sadly, when they have done they have had the worst experience ever.
Granted, I've also had situations when someone has told their loved ones and the loved ones have replied 'about time you told us, we've known for ages'.
Its also about being strong enough to admit something to yourself.

You are correct that sexual orientation is not a defining attribute of a person, but you tell me one single feature of a human being that defines them wholly.

We are complex creatures, we have so many facets that make us who we are, the point of admitting to onesself and loved ones is so that we can be seen as the whole, the person we actually are - not the lie we use to cover us.

As for Buffy the Vampire Slayer, well statistically speaking, 1 in 10 people are gay to a degree, so while it might be OTT for both Buffy and Willow to be gay, its not totally absurd in a group, let alone have more.

I do, however, think that Andrew does need to come out. Not because we need that clarification of his sexuality but because in season 7 he wasn't mature enough to.
I am not saying needs to 'come out' now, but some day he needs to grow up, he needs to understand who he is and be strong enough to admit who he is.

This has nothing to do with him being a secondary character, this is everything to do with a need within his character grow and start to understand.

Yes they do but this isn't all about other peoples perception either.
Coming out is often about a person coming to terms with themselves, the loved ones representing the final hurdle of this process.

I see 'coming out' more akin to a persons rite of passage than a big 'I'm gay, look at me'.
