Gay Willow or gay Xander?

I disagree, since Willow was shown to be able to be attracted to both men and women, same as vampire willow. Maybe hetrosexuality was a phase for Willow, but it was part of her life for a while.

If Willow had been shown to be in denial and not have really ever wanted oz and Xander (something that can be argued, but not proven) I would say that yes, it didn't really hint on anything. But that's not the case.

Well, Vamp Willow was attracted to both at the same time and didn't declare "Gay now!" like Willow did, nor did it look like she went through a phase. When Vamp Willow showed up into Sunnydale in Willow's universe, she was on both Xander, Sandy and Willow.

Willow was shown to be attracted to both men and women but at different times and no overlapping in the same manner as Vamp Willow. Which is why people use Vamp Willow as a hint that Willow is bisexual and not a lesbian.

I kinda think I like Willow being gay more than Xander. If Xander was gay, what would have happened to Anya? Just a thought...

I don't really have a proof. I did hear about it from a fan called Skitty who said she went to a James Marsters convention where he talked about Spike originally being Xander's boyfriend. All I remember was watching James talking about the show and say, "Spike came back to Sunnydale to kill Xander." And he should have said Buffy.

I do love that Xander was a straight guy who was okay with being a follower -it hurts to see some people call him a coward or weak because he wasn't as badass as Angel and Spike. That makes me relate to him and I'm sure makes a lot of guys relate to him because most guys are just like Xander. Badass characters are mostly fiction characters.

BUT I think it would have served the character better if he'd been the gay character. As it's as clear as crystals that Joss stopped having ideas for straight Xander since S5. Joss could have discussed a lot of the issues gay males go through, especially since Xander wasn't your stereotype gay character who I usually found to be either Kurts or Karofskies, but very rarely Blaines. And Xander is a version of Blaine.

I'm not sure what would have happened to Tara, but I can see Anya being paired off with Giles.

On the other hand, Xander being gay would have made him less popular in Slash fanfic and that would have made me really sad. 😀

Well, as everyone else is stating, I think Anya would've been with Giles, which seems about right to me. I mean, then we wouldn't have seen Giles happy with Olivia but then dumped by Olivia because his life is too dangerous. Anya would've been up to the challenge and probably more of a help and it would've been about time Giles got a proper, long lasting relationship.

Since I love Tara and her relationship with Willow I don't complain one bit, but it had been interesting to see Xander gay. Impossible to say how that would have turned out and which had been the better choice. Xander + Spike could have been great fun and we could have been without Spuffy sex/relationship and they could have had just the friends thing. Appealing indeed. Just no Xander/Andrew thing.

I do love Buffy/Spike, but I love Xander/Spike more. It'd probably turn out to be exactly like Spuffy, though since Xander doesn't like Spike and Spike doesn't like Xander. Lots of delicious hate sex with snark.
