My stepson just posted this joke on his site and I thought the geekier out of you guys might appreciate it -

There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary and those who don't...

Heh.....the number 10....and the mention of binary code.......pretty clever. Lol.

While my brain does NOT function on the higher levels, I think I got the joke.

Binary code is nothing but an endless series of "one's" and "zeroes"..........all of you read the joke again.......you'll get it.

(God.....I wish I had gone to college...............)

Can anyone here train me to be a geek??
 
OK, I give in - I hate explaining jokes but as you're all so nice...

In the binary system there are only two digits (1 and 0), so 10 in binary = 2 in base ten (the numbering system we use) - also in binary 1=1, 11=3, 100=4, 101=5 etc. So, if you read the gag again with numbers in binary...

Just goes to show that I'm a bigger nerd than I thought 😉
Sorry, I'll try not to be such a clever-clogs in future.

OM - I'd happily give you the geek training you crave but you seem to possess an inherent coolness which will be hard to tame (plus you'll have to provide your own pocket protector and nerd glasses 🙂)

I only recently started burnining larger files to disk, and I need someone to explain them to me.

all i can suggest is that whole 10 figure in binary but i would say i was a geek so im probably wrong??

ive looked at the other replys and some are really complecated answers :S lol im just not majorly bright

We couldn't do that my old love - on account of being a pacifist, plus - who else would play pub games with us in the old fossils corner? How about we all go out to the desert and drink beer? New Mexico would be my preference but I'd settle for the Californian desert...🙂

Psst, OM - I have my doubts about that LazyDolphin fella - bit too young if you ask me. Apparently the blighter's only just turned thirty...😉

Damn you, Pointy! Too young to hang with the old guys, too old to hang with the high-schoolers. . . I hate being at that akward middle stage. Good lord! It's like junior high all over again! If I break out in zits, I'm gonna cry. 😀

Can I be an elder statesman if I buy the first round? 🙂

LMAO! I think we need to establish a virtual pub as an offshoot of the Caritas forum. We'd have to give it an appropriately pub-ish name... The Stake and Cross, maybe, or The Rusty Fang. Or how about...er...The Inn of the Prancing Evil?
