"Gellar To Return As Geriatric Buffy?"

Full article:

SARAH MICHELLE GELLAR wants to return to her role as BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER - even if the character comes back as an old woman. Gellar played the demon-battling BUFFY ANNE SUMMERS in the cult TV series for six years until 2003, and says she plans to resurrect the role in the future. The actress says, "Oh God, I'll be in a walker. And Buffy will be killing people with her cane. It's not in my immediate future, but stranger things have happened."

hmmm,

lol i think that buffy comming back as an old woman would be funny although it'd be kinda cool to see how the characters turned out in the long LONG run lol but can ya just picture an old woman with a walker chasing after a vampire... with no teeth screaming i'mma get you lol

haha omg!! your comment just made my day!! LMAO!
That comment feels out of context to me.
It reads as if she was having the 'Will you ever return to Buffy' conversation again and came with the usual reply 'Maybe, one day if the part was really well written, but I doubt it. Having said that, the idea of Buffy as an old woman would be very entertaining in a spin-off. Maybe Buffy passing on the role of the Slayer to a younger version where i'd be in it for like 30 seconds. "Oh God, I'll be in a walker. And Buffy will be killing people with her cane. It's not in my immediate future, but stranger things have happened." '

After everything SMG has said, this simply doesn't feel like a full answer or comment just an extract.

Agree 100%! It's necessary to get the context in which she said what she did, if she did indeed say so!

Well, we ARE smarter than the average bear:)
I wouldn't like it if Buffy came back all old. I'd rather have her be mentioned in a spinoff than have her come back as Grandma the Vampire Slayer.

See I wouldn't mind it if it was like the wise old Slayer passing on the 'baton' to the newcomer.
If she was fighting, then i'd have issue, but if she had like a 2 minute cameo as a 65 year old then we get the 'Star Trek' pssing it on while at the same time a very brief acknowledgment that Buffy did indeed have a rich, full life.

If it was more than that, then there would be an issue

That's true. I would be VERY disappointed to find out that Buffy died young even after she averted the apocalypse a bunch of times.

OH what a classy idea!!

And oh oh, maybe Angel will have given up his vampire ways and is a real boy again, and he grew old with her!!

Unless Buff had done a little dimension hoping, the story would have to be set so many years in the future and that would just be silly.

As much as I would love to see some more SMG as Buffy I sense a certain amount of sarcasm in that statement...being no stranger to sarcasm myself of course....no I hear you cry!

The question had something to do about her returning to the charecter, and the wya I read it in the magazine was her usual "its a maybe thing" it didnt come off as I want to play the charecter again, just being sarcastic

whoa, great banner! and your avatar is a good pic too.
Even though I love the show, I really think that it came to a natural end. I don't think that it really needs to come back in any shape or form, especially not another spin off. I think it would ruin things.

Ah, yes, Grandma. Old Buffy would be funny, but it wouldn't work. Plus, it'll take centuries for SMG to even LOOK like she's aged the slightest bit.

Pretty much what I was thinking. I read these same comment in full over at Whedonesque and when placed into it's proper context it comes out very differently.

Basically Sarah thinks that it is unlikely that she would return to the role of Buffy because as she gets older the reality of the part makes it less and less feasible. That said, she isn't against the idea and seems to be open to the possibility.

Truthfully, having seen pics of Sarah from some of her latest films I would imagine that there will be a good few years before she looks anything like "too old". Okay, she can't play teen Buffy anymore but then she wasn't playing a teen in the last few years of the show, so what would it matter?

And, even if there were another Buffy...any amount of time could have passed between Chosen and now. She could feasibly play Buffy in her 30's, 40's and beyond.
I like the idea of an old Buffy! She could possibly be the matriarch of a Slayer dynasty or something similar. Given my love of Whedon, he could posit any preposterous storyline and I'd lap it up, anyway.

According to TV Guide, SMG has said she'd return for a reunion movie but David Boreanaz won't. Why does D.B. hate Angel so much? Sheesh.
