...is a pain.

As a person in a long-distance realtionship, I know this well. Are you now or have you ever been in a situation where geography (how close to or far from a person you are) has either positively or negatively affected your relationship?

In my case, we met just a few months before we both went off to different colleges in different states. At first, it was positive, because since our relationship constisted entirely of talking (on the phone/online) we got to know each other really well, really fast. But after some visits and a nice, long summer at home where we got to be together, it's just annoying.

I think all thats left is to discuss symmetry... Then we could have a BB Dating How-To Guide
I've never been a fan of long distance relationships. The couple I've had didn't work out. I think proximity is an important part of a relationship but that might just be me...

not just you...proximity...is underrated...
I've been in a long distance relationship with someone before but we weren't strong enough to cope with it. We weren't in love either. I found out he'd been seeing someone else behind my back and that ended the whole thing. That was when I first moved away to go to University. He was too immature for me too.

Anyway, back to the question in hand. I don't think I'm the right kinda person to have a long distance relationship. As it is, I love waking up next to Mike in the morning. It's hard enough being away from him for a week, let alone living away from him. We're the type of couple that spent a lot of time in each other's company for the first year or so and now we can't be without each other. I'm the kinda girl that needs a strong man on her arm to support her through thick and thin.

every gurl would love what you have...
I've only ever been in long distance relationships.. Well, my last gf lived in another part on Sweden so we didn't see eachother that often, and it was too far to visit on weekends.
But well, I'm all for it though and it can definitely work 🙂 It is harder of course, in many ways.. but.. if you're in such a relationship it is probably because it is worth it and all and the relationship is good enough. Yeah well..

Long distance relationships suck. Last time I was in one, the only one I had, ended in such tradegy that I've lost all faith in long distance. I'd rather just be by myself.

Oooooh! My kinda thread =D

Most of you know Im in a long distance relationship (well...'most of you' probably being elmo and Ash 😛) but yah...while the distance itself *does* suck, it always makes up for it when you see each other when you havent for such a long time...
Makes it aaaaall worth while 😀 Plus...all the stuff you get to make up for...well...we wont get into that now will we?

Its true that absence makes the heart grow fonder, dontcha know?

Yes - Absense does make the heart grow fonder. You and Meg are made for each other.
Well distance can be a problem if one of you don't believe in long distance realtionships...especially when you both know the other person will be leaving and thus don't let the relationship progress because one of you doesn't believe in long distance relationships...

But I think if something is really there then you make it work...if you can't make it worth the relationship wasn't what you thought it was.

I think that "distance" does make a big difference in a relationship. It takes two really strong people to keep things together in a long distance relationship... Two of my most favorite quotes talk about love and distance...

"Distance makes the heart grow fonder."

"Ever has it been that love knows not its own depth until the hour of seperation."

Anyway, I'm optimistic about LD relationships... Love is love, no matter the distance between it.

geography is all important...make it easier on yourselves yall...especially if your young...go out with a gurl a stones throw away from your house...its so much easier...and teaches more intimately than a phone or keyboard can ever teach...

Wise words from Gasm Landers...
Long distance relationships can be hard, but often I think that I'm better to actually talk to who ever I'm in the relationship with if it's a distance. When I meet someone to often I forget to bring things up, and I just assume that they know everything that's going on with me, when of course they don't because I didn't tell them anything about it..

When it comes to friendship I don't think that long distance is a problem. You call, write and now and then you actually see eachother and even though all friendships aren't strong enough to be able to cope with something like that it's my experience that the ones that are worth having are working out.

When it comes to the love thing I don't really think it works (haven't been there so I can't say for sure, better to break it up before the distance comes, at least according to me). Part of being inlove is the closeness and even though it works pretty well with friends, with a lover you don't just want the mental closeness, but the physical as well and there is no way to have that when you are far away from each other.

Long distance relationships are hard..I only survive it thanx to being able to chat with him almost daily for at least a few hours, talking on the phone everyday and sending each other 'personal' gifts.. And definitely when we get to see each other it's just mind blowing..Sure..it's hard as hell but for now it's working and that's all that matters

I did the "distance thing" with Mrs D a couple of times when we were younger, married and not, and it SUCKED. Hated it, never ever want to do it again...Gasm Landers is right...proximity is underrated...
