George Best, one of the best football (soccer) players the world has ever seen, past away yesterday at the age of 59.
George was from my hometown of Belfast, Northern Ireland and he grew up with my dad and his brothers. he played for the club i support, Manchester United, and he was, IMO, the best player they have ever had.
Yes, he had some problmes in his life with alcohol, but he deserves to be remembered for the football he payed, and not for the way he lived his life.
my dad will be at his funeral on Friday, as will thousands of fans.
i just wanted to take this time to pay my respects to a man who will be truly missed in my city.

RIP George...great footballer and silly man but he remained a gentleman nonetheless. I remember a playground chant of my youth - "Georgie Best, superstar. Wears frilly knickers and a playtex bra" (you know the tune...) Football's first true superstar indeed...

Its a shame he wasted the chance he was given again, it must be an awful time for his family, and nice to see another northern ireland...er here
