Hi,
I just finshed the season 1 rewatch, and I read about the specials on wikipedia, there are supoosed to be:

Commentary on "Welcome to the Hellmouth" and "The Harvest" by creator Joss Whedon
Interview with Joss Whedon and David Boreanaz

Interview with Joss Whedon on "Witch" & "Never Kill A Boy on the First Date" (Region 1 only)
Interview with Joss Whedon on "Angel" & "The Puppet Show" (Region 1 only)

I only got the comentary track to the first two episodes and the Joss David interview, the other interviews for the 4 other episodes are missing (Region 1 only) 🙁

Does somebody know if this is some kind of leagle resons or did they cut the stuff simply because they wouldnt fit on the dvds?

I always thought the US/UK dvd boxed contain a language track besides the original, like Spanish or something, isn't that the case? That would explain why they had to make room for the German audiotrack....

I'm pretty pissed that I didn't knew about that before, I never listen to the German track anyway so I would have never bought the German collection in the first place....

Do you think it's worth the money to buy a second, original US/UK collection? Or is there a possibility to buy the dvd extras on itunes? (I don't have an itunes account)

Greetings and have a nice easter holiday

Oh, that's too bad. Personally, I wasn't all that impressed with the Joss interviews. They seemed cut-off, unfinished. I haven't watched the commentaries though.

I do like the season 2 extra features though, especially any of the John Ritter comments. 🙂

Arrrg, John Ritter is the cyborg "stepfaher" right?
I loved that episode too, I hope the didn't cut that stuff...

I don't remeber anything about commentary by Ritter and I think I watched all the extras in my first run.
but I skipped as soon as there were some scenes I had not seen before, like in the season overviews, they are somewhere at the 4th disc, so you get spoiled pretty hard...

Maybe I'll finish season 2 during the easter holidays, then I know 😀

I have the first UK full series box set and that doesn't have those commentaries either.

The thing about the commentaries on the earliest seasons is that they were recorded while the series was still in production, so it might be interesting if at some point somebody went back and added another few each time the series gets re-released. My guess is either that they didn't exist at the time that the European edition was put together (in the early 2000s it was quite common for current American series to appear on DVD in Europe before the US because of the contractual relationship between the studio making a series, the network showing it and the DVD label releasing it- the down side being that more effort would go into the US release when it eventually happened) or that for whatever reason Joss wasn't happy with them- I can't imagine it's particularly fun talking to yourself for 40 minutes about anything.

The interviews for those episodes are really short, just a couple minutes each. You aren't missing much. When I first watched those interviews, I realized I already knew most of the info from the internet. I don't think it's worth it to go out and buy a second version.

If they're not listed on the box set (which I assume they aren't), they're not really missing. The edition just has less/different extras, that's all. One can't really expect that all extras are on every edition that gets released. (Would be pretty neat, though. 😀)
