Wtf was that about? Angel telling Buffy to get out of his city in "Sanctuary" but 24 hours later he goes back to Sunnydale beating the crap out of Riley!

I dont like Riley but what the ****

As far as that goes, Angel left Sunnydale because he believed that his presence was potentially harmful to both Buffy and himself because their relationship, as conditions existed at that time (and have never changed, except for one day that was erased) could never be allowed to develop into what they both wanted. Just the act of being close together presented a temptation that, if succumbed to, could lead, quite literally, to massive death, destruction, and and even the possibility of apocalypse. With that in mind, why did either Buffy or Angel EVER tempt fate by being even within shouting distance of each other? About the only kind of contact that they should have been risking should have by phone, mail, or the internet. Yes, Buffy had no business going to Angel's town, and, likewise, he had no business ever coming to hers. We have seen that any time these two get too close, lives are forfeit or hearts are broken, whether Angel's soul is lost or not.

Buffy (although understandibly) came to Angel's apartment to tell him how to handle a situation. Angel went to Sunnydale to apologize and make peace. Riley made things worse by assuming his loving girlfriend had cheated on him and made Angel evil, thus attacking him. Honestly, if my current boyfriend assumed I had cheated on him with my ex boyfriend and attacked said ex boyfriend, I'd be a lot less forgiving than Buffy was.

I think there's an important difference between assuming and concluding. Even if he concluded wrongly. Let's look at the timeline from his perspective.

1) He learns that Angel sleeping with Buffy turns him evil.
2) He meets Angel who is acting, to anyone who doesn't know him, evil. And he tries to beat Riley up.

Not a hard conclusion to come to.

"You actually sleep with this guy?"

^^ I can't help but bust out laughing every time he says that. xD

But yeah, what everyone else said. Buffy went to LA to warn Angel about Faith and got all pissed when she realized he was helping her, so he told her to leave.

Angel came back to apologize fore said argument.

I think I posted about this in one of the ep threads, but I think it's funny because...

1. Buffy is from LA and Angel was in Sunnydale, then they switch and refer to the other city as "my town".
2. They both keep using that term. Play nice, children!

I think the situation of them being anywhere near each other is just a hard one, as white avenger mentioned. They love each other, can't really be together, so seeing each other has to hurt and bring up all those old feelings, hurts, and issues.

Well....Angel came to apologize to Buffy for treating her like that, and then he got jumped by the Initiative, and eventually by Riley, which simply complicated matters even more.

Still, at least Angel had the guts to acutally come and apologize. I know a bunch of people who wouldn't have the nerve to apologize for treating someone like that.

I love when Angel tells her to get out of her city and I hate that he apologizes lmao I was so disappointed when I saw season 4 and saw him apologize I was like what nooooo!!

But yeah he only went back to sunnydale to apologize it wasn't about going there to tell her how to do things.
