Ghost no longer available

So tonight I finally convinced my parents to watch dollhouse. but when we went to watch it Ghost wasn't on Fox.com or hulu, does anyone know why?

it just seems kind of strange, i have never known hulu to take episodes of before, three seasons of buffy are on there, every episodes of firefly and jericho on there. , and abc have all the seasons of LOST on there website.

and how many people blow $40+ on a TV show the won't even know that they would like

They still want you to blow some money though, finding out. If not an investment in time they'll take two bucks :)
This is the way Hulu works with currently running shows. They're allowed to show the past five episodes of a currently running series on FOX. You were just a couple days too late because Ghost would have been taken down the day after episode six aired. Luckily though, the first five episodes are all kind of like pilots and your parents wouldn't necessarily have to watch the first episode before any others.

Yeah we went ahead anyways and they seemed to understand everything fine, it's just kind of annoying.

anyway thanks for clearing that up for me, i don't understand much about the way TV works
 
I'm sure Hulu the site would be willing to keep all of the episodes up if they could. But they can only play content that they have the legal right to play on their site. They have a deal in place with FOX and NBC that allows them to show some episodes but only within a certain window. After awhile, their right to it expires and they have to take it down. You'll notice they don't have a deal in place with CBS or ABC, which is why you won't find shows like LOST on Hulu. Fancast.com does, however, have legal rights to play ABC shows. I don't think CBS has a deal worked out with any of these sites though.

What is the difference between Buffy/Firefly/Jericho and Dollhouse?

Also, what Lost/ABC do is up to them.
The BBC iPlayer here in the UK shows some programmes all the way through where as some it will keep up for a week. Doctor Who is a good example of only keeping a show up for a week.

Erm, lots of people would 'blow' that money. I know plenty of people that buy shows on DVD and don't watch them on TV because they prefer to watch at their own pace.

I have never seen an episode of Battlestar Galactica on TV yet I am up to date because I bought the first series and miniseries on DVD.
 
Count me among those people who would pay the money. I've heard so many good things about Galactica but I don't want to watch it out of sequence on TV. When I have a little extra cash on hand, I'm going to buy me a season.

You MUST watch the Miniseries first.

The first few episodes of season 1 a) make much more sense and b) are very draining because they are so bleak.

The miniseries (which I picked up for like £5 which is about $12) is a really great starter.

It is, however, so arc heavy, or at least filled with continuation, that you can't really watch it out of sequence.

Brilliant show though.

Just for those that are curious who have not checked out I-tunes recently, at the time of this post all episodes of dollhouse are still available and each will still cost you $2.00.

DrusillaDarling just made mention of 40 bucks being a lot of scratch to let go for a show you might not even enjoy. I agree, but there are other options.

Short of renting, I'm liking this 'buy an episode' thing thats now available. Itunes even has a genius feature for television shows now, where it sort of profiles your taste like it does with music (not that that particular feature has ever really worked for me, it's about 50/50 suggesting some thing I like and other things I have purposely avoided.)
