David S. Goyer has reportedly opened up discussions about writing the story for a Ghost Rider sequel.

Goyer's spokesperson announced that the 43-year-old has not officially signed up for the proposed project. However, the studio plans to utilise a script that he had written years ago, Variety reports.

Ghost Rider star Nicolas Cage is believed to be reprising his role from the 2007 film.

The actor said earlier that he would like Ghost Rider 2 to be a reboot rather than a sequel to the original movie.

Okay, when have you ever seen a reboot of the first movie staring the original actor? I cant think of that ever happening before..

Cage has also mentioned some weird idea of Ghost Rider being set in Europe, something involving the Catholic Church. Don't need a Da Vinci Code GR. Glad he's not scripting it.

I think Goyer was just gonna be overseeing the script development, maybe helping to break the story based on some of his early ideas from his old script.

I'd actually like to see what Sam Raimi could do with something like this. Seems like it's right up is alley. But he's a little busy.

When did Cage seem to lose the plot? I mean he wasnt always as bad as he is now.. he is almost a caricature now.

I don't know. I thought he took kind of a weird turn when he did Con Air. Up until then, seems like he was just doing straight dramas and indie flicks. Then it was like he was trying to be "action hero man". He seems more like an off beat character actor at heart.

There's a synopsis of Goyer's old script here:

Don't really like the sound of most of it honestly.
