Just read This on wikipedia and I am appalled!

This show was already unoriginal when it basically was a slight deviation of tru calling and now it appears to be completely copying tru calling by introducing an anti melinda jack type character. If this show can go three seasons at least then why not save the hassle by not cancelling tru calling at all. Despicable!!!
 
You know i thought the same thing when i first herd of Ghost whisperer, i love tru calling and i think its better then GW, i thought it was a rip off since it started, but after this:jaw_drop:, they really seem to be even more unoriginal. Not to wine to much but

Not only was Dushku a better actress than Hewit Shes prettier too. That show deserved so much more than what FOX gave it. And to have a blatant rip off last longer. My god i havent been more appaled of a show that rips of anothers originality since Charmed ripping off apects of Buffy and Angel
 
lol! i've never seen the show, but i love all the parodies i've seen of it. it seems like a tru calling rip off for sure.
 
Tru Calling was good for the first season but the person they got to play her opposite was a complete mess up, he just didn't fit in the series.
It was as though some big-wig decided the show needed a protagonist instead of continuing the way it was.
If Tru Calling had kept on and the writers were good enough then maybe GW wouldn't have made it to the TV.
Even if GW is the same thing, its got something that TC didn't have.........viewers.
 
I can see the similarities between Tru Calling and Ghost Whisperer, but there were also elements of Tru Calling that came from, or were at least used in, Early Edition and Quantum Leap, which was itself quite similar to an old show called Time Tunnel. The producers of Moonlight have gone to great lengths to assure us that it is NOT a ripoff of Angel, despite the similarities. There are elements in New Amsterdam that sound similar to Highlander, as well as the Casca series of novels written by the late Barry Sadler. The original Battlestar Galactica had to stop production because of accusations that it was too similar to the Star Wars series. And, please God, let's not get started on the infestation of so called "reality shows" that we've seen in the last few years. Are these ripoffs, coincidences, or just Hollywood's attempts to give the public what they want to see? The answer, my friends, is blowing in...no, wait a minute, what I meant to say is, Hollywood makes what sells.
 
I watched Tru Calling all the time every single episode and i was completely bummed out when they cancelled it, it was an awesome show..... I also watch Ghost Wisperer (agian every single episode so far) and i love it too.... I agree with Buffy there when she says its not really a rip off... yes some parts are alike but not completely and i have to disagree about Jennifer Love Hewitt i think she is a very beautiful woman and a fantastic actress... I'm not saying she's better then Eliza but she's no worse either. I kinda agree on the Anti Melinda thing though.. that really is just like tru calling, But its still a great show... even if it does have strong similarity's to Tru Calling...
 
I'm sorry but anyone who can watch Ghost Whisperer, or, for that matter, even read a correct premise of it, and say it is a rip-off of "Tru Calling", is smoking something. The two shows are not alike at all, in premise OR tone and style, which is what sets shows apart. They only thing they have in common is the fact that they're supernatural and they feature a woman as the lead.

Ghost Whisperer is about a woman who talks to ghosts and helps them cross over. Tru Calling is about a girl who gets sent back in time when a corpse asks for her help so she can hopefully save their life.

COMPLETELY. DIFFERENT.

Ok so maybe i was wrong at calling it a rip off, but i still like tru calling better, but then again ive only watched a few episodes of GW.

Theres another show coming out on NBC and is called Journeyman.

Is it just me or does this one have some similarities with Tru Calling. Not saying that the shows a rip off or anything just wondering on the similarities just from the preview, who knows it might be completely different.

Both shows deal with the dead, and the anti tru/anti melinda thing is just too alike, that part at least has to be said is a cleare rip off
 
OK Tru calling and Ghost Whisperer are different,yes they feature a character trying to help the dead but while Melinda helps the ghost cross over Tru had to keep them from dying.I think b/c Fox kept putting it on nights where there were other shows that people were watching I think Grey's Anotomy might be one of them so not alot of people were watching Tru Calling.
 
I guess you can find ways to say any two shows are similar. But whether they're alike or not, who cares? Tru Calling is not around anymore...
 
I dont mean the shows are similar to watch, similar theme and story lines, come on the anti melinda thing you have to admit is tru
