Dan Aykroyd told 660 News that "he’s handed Reitman a script for a 1960s-era prequel, which would look at the teenage years of parapsychologists Peter Venkman, Egon Spengler and Ray Stantz." and that he would like to do it as a "pilot within the next maybe five years"

Actually I think this could be a really good idea. Maybe not the same characters, well, definitely not the same characters, but I think the premise could work and could be really fun.

Well you don't have to worry about that because teenagers never seem to play teenagers anyway 😉

Am in-different to this. Not a fan of prequels as a rule. More in favour of a straight reboot or sequel. But I will keep an open mind. It has work to do to win me over.

I think they are more likely nowadays to pick younger actors than in the past. And it's not making the shows better.

But it's more realistic. That's why they have to have proper representation in everything nowadays, verses actually casting the best one for the part.

Oh I don't think that's why their doing it in the shows. I think its more like they can't attract the high class casts. I think the quality actors are more likely to appear on the more cutting edge shows.

With The Big Bang Theory off the air, I guess there is a hole open for a nerds do nerdy things type of show. That's just me guessing that

Venkman, Spengler and Stantz weren't exactly the 'cool' kids in high school.​

Well, maybe just Venkman and Stantz. Getting Spengler in the show might be tough.

There is a standard concept in television and the movies that if anything goes back more than 25 years, it automatically becomes expensive to produce. You have to be sure there are no gas station prices in view, all the cars have to be from that era and new things (like bottled water or personal computers) do not show up. Making everything look like the 1960's is going to be a daunting task. And in TV series production, cost is king.

Even if they did a limited series like Hulu did with 11.22.63 it still would be worth it. Maybe moreso being a limited series as it would be an "event" type and get more eyes on it.
