**Gigantic Spoiler** from Whedon!

I'm thinkin' that it's gonna have something to do with this whole vampires being public thing. Angel becomes an extremely big celebrity vampire after this whole LA thing. We've all ready seen events leading up to that, right?

So, because the public is in love with vamps, Buffy becomes the most hated woman in the world. Public Enemy #1. What could hurt her more, than the world that she's spent her life saving, turns it's back on her.

So, Angel, using his celebrity status, stands up for her and publicly supports her cause.

I mean he showed up in season four after they's had their big fight over Faith and she was going out with someone new, He showed up when Joyce died and He showed up when Buffy was facing an apocalyptic battle with no real way strategy on how to fight it. All very painful times and really, the only times when narratively and logically he can put in an apperance.

Also in Flooded even though we didn't see it. He turns up at the times when no one and nothing else can get her though whatever pain she is going through.

I'm just wondering, should we take this literally? As in Buffy in her greatest physical pain?

I'd happily wade through 3 issues of Bangel porn for just one nice, loving, fully-clothed kiss between Buffy and Satsu.

Maybe the painful moment is when she realizes that Riley has betrayed her. you guys seem to like talking about this whole thing about angel being separated from angelus, and I haven't finished the Angel TV show yet, and I haven't read any of after the fall but I've seen every buffy episode and have all of season 8 so far, and I've never heard of anything about angel and angelus being separate so is it just something you guys like talking about? or did it actually happen at some point and I just haven't encountered it yet? Is there any actual reason to believe that it would happen?

Angel & Angelus are NOT separate. Angel is what you get when you combine Liam's Soul & the Demon Angelus. That being said, since Liam's soul has over 300 years of memories of Angelus, even if the actual demon is removed, he's still mostly the same Angel.

Angel S4 & AtF will show you explicit examples.

Also it's not 50/50, more like 90/10 Liam/Angelus since both Angel & Angelus refer to the demon being deep down inside of Angel.
 
URgh NO!! I was enjoying the Angel-free season 8...i can't stand the guy! I want spike to come back! Spuffy all the way....i don't know what's going on in After the Falls because i don't read it so if Spike returning is impossible...then just ignore me 🙂 But not the anti-Angel bit!

Couldn't they bring back Tara instead 🙂 Well they just need to get over the tiny barrier of her you know being kind of dead and then it's all good 😀

well, i know all you angel comic fans are gonna hate me for saying this, but i hope angel DOES show up in buffy season 8 because dark horse knows how to write good comics. IDW does not.

?

I don't know about other series, but in terms of the canon Buffyverse comics neither IDW or Dark Horse have written either.

Joss has been the Executive Producer of both, with writers varying by arcs.
