Giles and... Buffy?

Seeing is how I feel like he is more like her father than anything, I would rather poke forks in my eyes than see that. EEEEEK.

TR, that would really, really hurt! *makes note to keep sharp things away from TR*

Question - do you think things would have been different if Giles was gay? Because I totally got that vibe from him sometimes.

Anyway, it's off-topic, so you don't have to answer!

Bahaha imagine Giles and Xander............. eww or not! Nah Giles and spike, Oh, Giles could join in with Angel and Spike with the oils and restling!

:buble_eye

Eww eww eww eww!! *jumps up and down to get that image out of her head*

I take it the idea of Buffy & Giles together is far better than the idea of Spike, Angel, Giles and OILS, eh, Blondie?! :lmao:

I think I threw up in my mouth!
My Giles love knows no bounds... or at least it didn't, until Aussie pulled one out of thin air and actually showed me a situation in which my Giles love turns into revulsion. 🙂

No. No. No. No. No! Even if Giles was bisexual, (because, let's face it; there was a vibe there with Ethan) I cannot possibly see him pursuing a physical relationship with:

1. Buffy's lovers (ewww - again with the squicky incest vibe)
2. A vampire.
3. More specifically, the vampire who tortured him.

Giles has way more class than that! This isn't Jerry Springer; parents and parental figures do not take their kids' lovers to bed.

Haha true true :)
Ah, PV, but could you imagine!? How would that have changed our opinions about Buffy, the show itself, y'know?

Well, it would have made me make Buffy's Yucky Alcohol face, that's for sure! lol.

I think it would have challenged a lot of our opinions about the show. It certainly would have changed the overall tone. It would also probably change our perceptions of the character development of Angel, Spike, and Giles, all of whom we not pretty firmly accept as having transitioned from the bad to the good. I say that because, in the Buffyverse, "good" sort of means loyal to Buffy. Those three making with the hot oil fest would certainly be an act that would fall outside of the loyal to Buffy parameters. Furthermore, if there was anything to bind them together, (other than love for Buffy) it would be that shared experience of coming from the bad side and into the good. With each other, I think they'd share that latent dark side that they can't share so easily with Buffy or the other Scoobies -- and that, I think, would make us question the extent or permanence of their respective reformations.

All of which, I think, would be better suited for AtS than for BtVS, but still highly disturbing.

But still highly disturbing, nah not yet !

Didn't Palabravampiress just make reference to Giles not going with Angel because Angel tortured him, hmm maybe. But if Giles was heavily into bondage and really liked the pain !
I seem to remember Angel going to see Mr Spanky, and saying he didn't have a problem spanking men. Oh Giles, you missed out there.

This is a seriously weird thread, who started this train of thought Palabravampiress ?

Haha I love it! the response. not the bondage part!!!!
Well, I did... but it was only cuz someone on YouTube made a video. I swear.

And I'm not sure how we got onto the topic of Angel/Giles/Spike, except as yet another example of how it would be weird to profane the Buffy/Giles father/daughter relationship. You don't sleep with your daughter and you don't sleep with her exes. lol.

On that note, I think we should get off the topic of Angel/Giles/Spike.

As someone said earlier, I can see a few positives for Buffy out of a Giles/Buffy ship. I mean, she would get to have an adult relationship. She'd be with someone who understands and accepts her Slayerness and also has something to add to that experience. She'd be with someone who would love her and treat her with respect. I mean, Giles is a great guy. All of the things that make him a good father figure to her would qualify him as a good romantic partner if the relationship had not gone the father/daughter route from the beginning.

I can't really see what Giles would get out of it, though. I mean, a relationship with a much-younger woman whom you know it likely to die soon? Even if Buffy weren't his daughter figure, I don't think Giles would go for her. I just don't see what he gets out of the relationship (aside from the obvious, which I'm sure he can get elsewhere just fine).

I don't think that Giles could ever see Buffy as anything other than an unofficially adopted daughter. Just in case he ever got other thoughts with all those lovely young girls around him, half a minute in the same room as Cordelia would have made him think off something else, like suicide, forks in the eyes, hitting his head against a brick wall, and here it comes the worst thing he could have done, ever ! tongued Snyder !.
Giles, you can't beat a cold shower !, fully clothed of course. Wouldn't want to give any-one that image uuurrrrrrrrrr Giles without his glasses one eewwwwww !!

Actually Xander/Giles is a guilty pleasure of mine. And the pairing is quite popular 😀

Personally, I kinda like the Buffy and Giles pairing.... kinda a guilty pleasure of mine. I understand where all y'all are coming from, and I can agree with you. If there was to be Guffy, the show definately needed to step away from the father daughter thing a long time before the end.... I just tend to ship this way, conveniently forgetting all the father/daughter references - I mean its fanfic (or whatever), I can do what I want! 😀
I never noticed how Buffy was missing in all the scenes the Giles was portrayed as someone other than a stuffy book-man.
As for Giles not being anything like all of her previous beaus? How well did THEY all work out? Mayhaps she needed a different kinda man.
