While I don't ship them romantically, I think that they should have had more time onscreen as friends. I think that, as the only two consistent adults on the show after Jenny's death, they probably had a lot of "grown-up" conversations about the dangers of the Hellmouth and other adult things.

Agreed! I do ship them romantically (as you well know, hee!), but since it's not canon and probably wouldn't have happened...I'm perfectly content to just imagine them being good friends behind the scenes. Maybe when Buffy went off to college and Joyce was feeling neglected by her daughter and Giles was just bored out of his mind, maybe they met occasionally to have tea and talk about Buffy. And lots of other things. Like primitive art and cultures. And books (though I'm sure their tastes greatly vary).

I just want to see them happy, and it would be nice for each of them to have another adult to talk to about grown up things.

I agree, especially after Joyce learned about Buffy being the slayer. It would have been nice to have their adult presence around more and I think they could have been a really positive influence on Buffy.

Agreed, I think the Band Candy incident made it little hard for their relationship to progress farther though.

Astral - Yeah, that would've made things awkward between them for a little while. But think of all of the stutter-y conversations they would have until things became normal!
