Did Giles really not see what was going on between Willow and Xander, in the stacks of the library, right under his nose, or did he see and choose to ignore it? I know Giles gets absorbed in research once he opens his books, but this, he could hardly could have missed

Plus, the remark, "you can stop what you're doing", left me with the impression he saw but pretended he didn't. Why else not say, 'you can stop your research, I've found it'

Eh, he probably noticed. He's not that oblivious 😛 But it's really not his place to say anything about it.

It just shows that Giles doesn't really care about the children's personal lives.

Yeah, couldn't imagine it was that bad 😛

I thought it was a lot more like; "oh no, no way am I gonna be caught in the middle of that!" 😀

He absolutely saw it; that's why he had a bit of a disapproving tone of voice. (Not because they were snogging the wrong people, but because they were snogging at all when they were supposed to be researching.)

But I agree that, other than being disapproving of them slacking off, he wasn't about to get in the middle of anything.

Well imagine what would you do? Talk to them? Look way? I don't know what I would have done. At least it was Willows and Xanders decision and the two have to assume the responsibility for their behavior. May Giles saw it or not! I don't know if he did! May he thought that Willow and Xander have to make the experience by themselfes, which they did too!
