giles favourite things

If anybody wants to put together a list of books (that actually exist are aren't magic/demonology Watcher texts) or albums they think Giles would enjoy, I would be very interested your suggestions.

It's been too long since I've watched the series straight through. The one thing I'm remembering is his copy of Loaded by The Velvet Underground. So anything that was actually mentioned in the show, or things you could see him reading or listening too in his free time. Like maybe a list of books he read in season four when he was bored out of his mind.

Would also be interested in movies, favorite tea and underwear.

I don't know why, but I'm always wondering what sort of things fictional characters would be into. Suggestions for any Buffy character would be of interest to me, but mostly concerned with Giles at the moment.

I've never had the slightest doubt that Rupert Giles would be a huge fan of Edgar Rice Burroughs, in particular his Tarzan and John Carter series. That's where he got his fixation on swords and other medieval weapons, and h e probably had a huge crush, as a teenager, on his imaginary image of Dejah Thoris. In fact one of the main reasons that he never married is that no woman he ever met could measure up to the Princess of Mars.

Two of Giles' childhood heroes were the Lone Ranger and Tonto. He liked them so much that he bought himself a pinto pony and named him Scout. (You can see him riding it in Episode 3 of Season 7).
