No one could have seen this coming.

Of course, in this business the very idea of inhuman creatures that kill strictly for the pleasure of it is hardly a surprise.

I don't know what they are, or what to call them. The people who have been unlucky enough to have crossed paths with these things have died slowly...painfully.

At one time the forest at Leicestershire was safe to tread....but now hikers, campers beware there's something monstrously evil stalking here the likes of which has never had seen before.

They come in the night.

According to what I have, their appearances are preceded by a hot, demon wind...then all falls absolutely silent. No night sounds of any sort...not of crickets or frogs, nothing.
That's when they come, dragging their victims into the night, their screams echoing through the hills.

The next morning, no bodies.... just trails and trails of blood.

I suppose if I had to suggest what they might be I would think they were some kind of flesh-eating ghoul, but as to the specific kind, again, I can only guess.

How to stop them? I don't know.

The one thing I DO know is that they fear light. I keep a 2,000,000 candlepower spotlight near my bed, along with other, more lethal accoutrements in case of any sudden, unwanted incursions by these bloody things....and spotlight motion detectors all around my house.

I hear the screams of these creatures some nights, when the air is particularly still. It is a sound that sends chills to your very soul.

I do wonder what they do with the remainder of the bodies. Do they dismember them and take them back to wherever the bloody hell they hole up (a hell dimension?), to feed the rest of their hungry hordes...or do they just leave them in the underbrush of the trails? I would think the former rather than the latter.

Cannibalism in hell. Why not.

That raises another question, what becomes of the victim's souls?
Do they become the property of that dimension's Lord?

I have no answers this time....only questions.

I must call the girls. I'm going to need all the help I can get for this one.

God help us........

Best writer I know in the real world...love ya man!
Very mysterious..it reminds me of Resident Evil(game) when you would find a journal or diary entry, really creepy, I like it.

They came again last night, those horrible screams.

I listened for a long time after the demon winds stilled. The screams of those marked...of the targetted...were no less horrible.

Today I have been joined by my newest companions-in-arms...Deirdre Collings, a demon hunter out of Scotland, and Iris Danvers, an orphaned teen with nascent but growing psychokinetic abilities...in the hopes that we may deal with this situation with the utmost expediency. Their
combined power is formidable, as has been proven in our battle against Mistress last year.

It has been decided that by the light of day we are to try to locate the bodies of the missing.

There is a place on a trail known as "Deadman's Drop", named so for the unfortunate discovery a few years ago of a man hanging from a tree just off of that trail...his body carved with satanic symbols.

I believe that somewhere in this area is where we may find the remains of the victims. I am familiar with the trails in the woods. The only forseeable problem I can see is that the area in question is full of caves, some of which go back into the hills for miles and miles.

I shall be arming myself with the usual in assorted weapons of war, of course taking along my spotlight since the strong light affects these creatures....and some vials of Water of Soleder for their shielding properties. It never hurts to be prepared.

I'm willing to wager that they're probably in one of two caves, if I'm right in thinking that they stay in the shadows, it seems to me they would be as far back in the cave as they could go, a place with no light at all.

As dark as the grave.

2:48 PM

As we arrive at " Deadman's Drop", Iris can immediately sense what must have happened here. I entreaty her to open her mind's eye, to try and get a lock on any residual energies in the area.
She immediately sees a group of people sitting around a camp fire, a group of twelve or thirteen (an unlucky number, indeed). The time is just after midnight.
At about thirteen minutes after midnight the demon wind begins to blow, from everywhere and nowhere. Iris sees a large hole opening in the earth, spewing forth a vile stench. She sees demonic figures dressed in black climbing from this hole (not a physical aperture it seems, but more a dimensional one).
The demon's features are hidden from her, however.
The rest is mostly a blur except for the massive blood and the screaming of the poor victims. The blood darkens the soil.
As their screams die into the night, everything becomes deathly still.

Iris opens her eyes and collapses to her knees, sobbing and sick to her stomach. Consoled by Deirdre, Iris makes us realize that there is no animal life at all in this area, as if they feared to tread here.

Unbidden, a thought of Jenny flits through my mind. Beautific, calming and warm. Given the growing malefic presence on our plane, I am almost grateful that she is no longer on this world.

We must find where and what this evil is, and find how to send it back where it came from.

After more cursory utilization of her abilities, Iris strongly feels that the aperture she saw the creatures use was more of a mode of transport within OUR plane of existence, rather than a doorway from a separate plane.

They are here, then.

If so, It has always been my personal belief that if you seek evil...look to the dark.

The caves in this forest are dark and dank, the perfect place for these creatures to shelter themselves from the purifying rays of the sun.

As we search the area of Deadman's Drop, we find a great deal of blood, so much of it that it has soaked into the ground, but no bodies. Not even remains.

Iris is frightened, as is her custom in these situations. One certainly can't blame her. In the short time since the discovery
of her abilities, she has seen and fought against horrors no human being should ever have to endure. Still, she knows that the job we do is necessary, and right. She owes it to her family to fight the good fight. That keeps her centered...and sane.
Deirdre, of course, is champing at the bit to have a go at these things. Bless her.

The caves.

It's time we got to it, then.

4:55 PM

We have entered the caves.

This is against my better judgement, as we are entering here at so late an hour...but the township shall be teeming with people tonight, as it is Friday. We cannot allow any more deaths. So, on we go.

Iris can feel their presence straightaway. They are closer than first supposed.

They know we are coming.............

To be concluded......
