Giles killing Ben...

yeah that kinda creeped me out a bit. I wish it could've been different because I absolutely loved Ben. He tried his hardest to keep Glory away from Dawn even though he was a little afraid of dying himself.

I think eh just takes that huge responsibility when something HAS to be done, that maybe others would have a problem with... the biggest I think is killing Ben to kill Glory.... because he knew she would have come back and caused pain and death to others.

I couldn't make that decision I don't think 🙁

Giles has always been willing to make sacrifices for the greater good.

And it was a sacrifice that had to be made. I'm not sure whether I would be able to do it, but if it was threatening the entire earth, which includes the people I love, I probably would end up killing him.

It's not out of character for Giles in any way, therefore, I wasn't really surprised, just wondering at consequences there'd be if it ever was found out.

Giles killed Ben because it had to be done. He was a little scary, but I think because he didn't put any emotion into it. He just killed him. I think that he probably killed people before that (in his "Ripper" days), and if Buffy wouldn't kill Ben, it was his duty to do it.

I love the fact that Giles is willing not only to sacrifice Ben etc. for the greater good, but himself. He knew exactly what killing Dawn would do to him, and his relationship with Buffy and the Scoobies, but he was willing to do it. He was terrified of his Ripper days, but he is willing to torture himself in order to save the world by going back to them for that period. It was such a brutal way to kill Ben; we're used to seeing people quickly stabbed with a sword, or Vamps being staked and dissapearing on Buffy, but to slowly choke him with his hand? It was almost scary.

One thing I wonder - would Season 1 Giles have done it? I'm not too sure...
