Gile's Ripper accent

anyhoo, I was watching "Band Candy" yesterday and Giles ate a candy bar that reverted him to teenage/early-20s "Ripper" and what was interesting was his accent sounded more like Spike's. the book "Dusted" said that Ripper's accent is more like Anthony's real accent, so I gather then that he actually sounds like either Ray Davies or Johhny Rotten, maybe Mick Jagger or I may be pushing it there. I was also wondering what episode does Giles sing "Behind Blue Eyes"?
 
According to JM Tony's real accent is more Spike like, I'd imagine he stiffers his upper lip for the show, but I think there is a decline, he seems more stuffy in S1 then in S7.

About the sing song, dunno.
 
havent you ever seen an interview with Tony head ?

its pretty much how he speaks in season 7, in season 1 he played it more stuck up but its pretty much the same.
 
I hate to say this but Faldor is pretty much right 😛

His "Band Candy" Ripper accent is what posh kids sound like when they're pretending to be "street"😉 Tony actually has a well-trained drama-school accent - what I believe is called "Received Pronunciation" aka "BBC English"

Many, many of the original punks in the late 70s were not from the backgrounds they pretended and were really just middle class art students who adopted similar accents to ASH in that ep. Having said that, I thought it was very well observed by ASH and/or the writer of that ep...

I saw Tony at a convention... he usually indeeds sounds more like Season 7, cause he speaks a bit more laid-back.


On a side-note: RP (BBC/the Queen's English) OWNZZZ!!! 😛

On the topic of Giles, his accent in the entire run of Buffy is false......its a little known fact that ASH is actually from Omicron Persei 8, where all the residents have a gruff masculine voice, with american accents.

OMG, you mean there's an actual name for it? Who'd a thunk it?

ASH sounds different to me in different eps, but I can't remember which ones at the moment. His Band Candy accent stands out, tho. I think I heard JM saying once that Tony honed his Spike accent for him. Where does Spike's come from?
